Help! How do I know if his nose is broken? (update mon am)
What am I looking for? Obviously it's swelling and bleeding. What else am I looking for? Will there always be problems breathing?
He fell right off the curb and landed face first on the pavement. Didn't even break the fall with his hands.

UPDATE Sunday evening:
He was still bleeding a bit after his nap and the swelling was getting worse on one side of his face, including nose and upper lip. I was ready to walk out the door to take him to the hospital when the dr finally called back.
He said there was nothing that could be done at this age and they wouldn't even take x-rays so close to the brain this young. He said they can evaluate him in a few days after the swelling goes down and they can see in the nose.
He said as long as he was acting fine, didn't lose conscious (HOw the hell do you spell that word?!?!), and wasn't throwing up to just let the swelling take it's course.
I just put him down to bed. His nose is starting to turn a bit blue and the eyelid on the bad side is starting to turn blue too. But the dr said I should expect that. I feel like I should be doing something for him. I gave him Tylenol to help ease the pain.

UPDATE MON AM:
He woke up without swelling too much more overnight! 
He is definately more bloody on his face and where he landed is more apparent. He is having slight difficulty breathing, but he was getting snotty before the fall. (Stupid teeth)
His teeth appear to all be okay. He won't let me brush his teeth, which is his favorite thing to do. So I know he is hurting.
We will be seeing the dr tomorrow in hopes the swelling goes down. I hope it goes down before the wedding this weekend. Don't need his cute face all bloody for wedding pics.
We are going out now to run errands!

He actually fell asleep for his normal naptime. I have to assume that's a good thing.
I'm going to look at how bad the swelling is when he gets up. I broke my nose around the same age, but I don't remember anything about it. Geesh, you think I could've learned something.  It's just tough with the bleeding disorder to know how much blood is normally lost. Also depends on how much he loses in the crib if I fully freak.

Actually, it doesn't have to be swollen or bleeding. The ear-nose-and-throat dr I went to for allergy shots was telling me once it's one of the easiest bones to break and that a kid can bump into a table leg, fall down, not cry, waddle off without their nose looking different...but that they broke their nose. I'd say if DC seems ok (meaning not upset) and can breathe fine, leave it alone. If you're concerned though you can take them to a dr.
