Help! I didn't know permanent would be so .... well, permanent!
For my sister's wedding a few weeks ago, I had my nails wrapped and got a permanent French manicure. Looked great for the past 2 weeks and now it's totally growing out on my nails and you can see. I was planning on keeping up with it for while, but the thing is, I am not a "wraps" kind of girl. I hate how thick my nails are, and I miss my natural nails, which always looked great, were well shaped and strong on their own. I don't want to go for a fill in. I want them off. I used to do wraps way before kids and hated how my nails would be when I would take them off eventually.
So I soaked them in pure acetone last night for 30 minutes each hand. AND seriously, hardly any came off. They are still so thick! I didn't even get a "wrap" on all my nails, my regular nails were long enough, they just put layer upon layer upon layer upon layer of glue. I cut the ends of my nails back and tried filing them when they were wet with the acetone.
What's my next step? I have a bit of the white left from the French and my nails are much shorter now, but I still have a thick bed of the glue. I was going to just let it grow out, cutting my nails each week.
Any at home advice? It doesn't look that terrible since it's clear except for the white part... but *I* still think it needs to be all off!

When I wanted mine off, I filed the top of my nail until they were almost even with my natural nail and put a clear coat of polish over it, then I let it grow out, took a while...

Would buffing them down and then applying clear nail polish work? That is what they did for me after I had the gel nails. It took me 2 1/2 months for my nails to grow back in properly. I am not doing that again.

If you got the gel permanent french acetone isn't going to get it off, you need to file that down. I had that once and never again. If it was regular wraps with just glue then it should have come off when you soaked them. Also, they have acetone and non acetone nail polish remover and then they have 100% pure acetone to remove tips/wraps, that is the one you needed to use.
I would just go back to the salon and have them take them off.

It has to be a gel permanent french.. I did use 100% acetone. I actually tried to pour it into a plastic bowl to soak my hands in and it literally dissolved the plastic bowl in seconds and I had a huge mess. I soaked my nails in it for half an hour and nothing.
Looks like I am going to be filing down over the next few days! And yes, never again!

When I got the UV gel permanent french, I went to the nail salon to get it off. It took a while, but they did it.
