Help me ladies! Should i stop pumping or not?
I am tryng to decide if i should stop pumping or keep going. As many of you know i had a bad staph infection and killed my supply. I have done Fenrugreek, Mother's Milk Tea, More Milk Plus and nothing helped, i was only getting half an ounce each breast. The LC gave me Reglan and combined that with 2-3 Fenugreek every 3 hours. My supply went to almost an ounce each breast but has not gotten any better and i have been on the reglan for 2 weeks now. The LC said my supply will probably not get any better. Pmping every 2 hours is so hard, especially when DD wants my attention and cuddle time.
Do you think i should keep trying or am i beating a dead horse at this point doing this???

If it were me, I would probably just stop at this point. It sounds like you have to pump all day long. I know BF'ing is important to some moms (including myself!) but you have tried everything and already missed out on so much time with your dd when you were in the hospital.
No matter what you do - you should be really proud of yourself for trying so hard for so long!

Re: Help me ladies! Should i stop pumping or not?
its up to you...trust me, i know how you feel, i had to give up bfing and just pump w/dd since she has a high palate and hated it...it was so stressful...it broke my heart to do it and i was so upset and torn, but now, three weeks later, it works so much better, I feed her a bottle w/out screaming and tears and she is happy and you know what, i realized i am too....plus i have more time for my other dd! follow your heart, if its taking up qualuty time, and you feel you cna give it up, do it...your dc will grow up to be happy and healthy no matter what....you're a great mom for hanging in there!!

Honestly, it sounds like you have done everything in your power and it is still not working as it should. I would stop and enjoy your DD. Not everyone can breastfed and their children grow up just fine
If you are looking for someone to tell you enjoy your DD and be happy, I am the girl

You've done your best! Sometimes it just doesn't work. DD will grow up with the pride of having you as her mother. She doesn't care how she's fed.

I agree with the other ladies. I think you've made such an amazing attempt at pumping but like you've mentioned, you are missing out on quality time with DD since you are pumping all the time. It was hard for me to stop pumping, due to the guilt I felt, but what it comes down to is this... if mama ain't happy, no one's happy!! You did a great job. Let yourself heal from the infection and switch to formula. DD will thrive!!

Re: Help me ladies! Should i stop pumping or not?
I battled a staph infection when DS was an infant. I REFUSED to give up BFing. So for 2 months I was not doing better because I would only take BFing approved meds. Finally the specialist had enough and told me it was very serious and I was put on non BFing meds. Just like that. I pumped and dumped for 1 week. My supplied reduced a bit but I could have revived it (I think!).
Up to that point I had been pumping 32 oz per day to keep up with DS feeding. I was drained. One of the reason I was not healing either.
After that week of antibiotics when I dumped my milk, DH told me it was "time" to let go. It was too hard to keep up with DS. It was bitter sweet.
I settled on BFing DS on the morning and evening and formula during the day.
Eventually when he was 6 months, my boobs had deflated. I hardly had any milk. I let it go. It was time.
I think no matter how long you have been BFing, it's hard to let go. I don't know why. It's always bitter sweet.
You try your best but at some point you have to stay objective. If you feel you supply is gone, it's gone. You did your best. It's time to let go.
Don't worry.... DC will adapt!!!!
