Help me thicken my crockpot beef stew...

I put in beef broth, black pepper, tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, a little bit of salt, beef cubes, carrots, potatoes, onions, peas, green beans, carrots, onions and some water. What should I use to thicken it with directions please. Thanks ! I usually do not start from scratch, I get the McCormick crockpot beef stew mix. PS I cannot wait to come home and smell it and eat it tonight!Chat Icon

Wondra.

Sprinkle a little in at a time until it gets to the consistency you want/need. It doesnt change the flavor or anything. I love it and use it all the time.

Take out a little of the cooking liquid and mix with flour until you have a paste. Mix the paste into your stew and stir. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes to let the flour spread out. Repeat if necessary.

If you have cornstarch, you can mix that with cold water and stir it into the stew.

I would take flour and butter and cook in a skillet till thick. i would add some of the broth and blend the flour, then add to the crockpot to thicken. You have to cook the flour first otherwise the stew will taste like flour.
