Help! re: Lexie's incision
Lexie was spayed 10 days ago. We followed all of the "rules"...we limited her activity, kept her crated a lot so that she would rest, made sure that she wore the e-collar for the full week, etc. The incision site was fine until right now. It's pink/red and looks a little puffy. And I think it's oozing a tiny bit of blood. We put her e-collar back on (she was licking) and she is resting in her crate. I am calling the vet in the morning, they have Saturday hours. She is acting FINE, do you think she's okay? I'm so upset!

Re: Help! re: Lexie's incision
Bella's got really swollen and red a few days after, it almost looked like a tennis ball inside her stomach. I took her to the vet and they said it was all normal, and a week later she was fine.

Re: Help! re: Lexie's incision
The same thing happened with our dog MILO, it got pink/red and a little puffy and the vet said it was fine. As long as there is no puss---yellow or green(sign of an infection)---coming out we were told it is normal.

Re: Help! re: Lexie's incision
she's probably fine, but i would take her to the vet just to get it checked out. when my cat got spayed she had a little bump under her skin which worried me, but they said it was the stitches taking a bit longer to dissolve. i just felt better knowing it was looked at. good luck!

Re: Help! re: Lexie's incision
It's probably totally fine, but I have to admit that Misty's did the same thing and we took her to the 24 hour vet in Selden. They said it was fine and to keep her away from it. They sent us home and it was gone in two days.
Hope her incision heals quickly!!!!

Re: Help! re: Lexie's incision
It could be from the licking. I would call the vet just to be safe though & see what they say.

Re: Help! re: Lexie's incision
So as long as it's not oozing pus ( ) it's okay. It looks a little better already, I've been keeping her collar on so that she can't lick it. Thanks girls!

Re: Help! re: Lexie's incision
You can clean it with a little peroxide and warm water on a q-tip.
