help! sac at 4 wks??

hey girls... i had my first appt. to confirm my BFP the other day, the dr said i was about 4wks. 3 days. THey did bloodwork and a sono. Nothing came up on the sono, no gestational sac. the tech said it was prob too early then when I talked to the doctor she started warning me of ectopic pregnancies and now I am freaking out.

They took bloodwork wed. and today and I will get the results monday Chat Icon

but now I cant stop worrying something is wrong, especially since the only symptom I have really is sore bbs and cramps. Anyone else go through this? Should you see a sac at 4 weeks? I am so sad Chat Icon

Re: help! sac at 4 wks??

I went through this with both of my pregnancies.

I went in, it was just too early - NOTHING in there.

I was prepared for ectopic, spoke all about it TWICE. It's so terrible to have to wait it out, but both times the next time I went in I saw sacs, and the first pregnancy there were TWO!

So now I have healthy twins and a 6 month old.

Hoping the same for you, FM me if you want! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm so sorry to hear that Chat Icon Chat Icon

thanks for your response. I know, I was just expecting bloodwork, definitely not a sono! I was 16DPO, since I ovulated late this cycle.

Just going to wait it out... thank you for your support Chat Icon

i cant stand doctors that even do sonos that early. more times than not there is NOTHING to see... i had a sono at about 4w5d for OHSS cause I did iVF, and my RE wouldnt even show me the screen. he said at that point there is nothing to see. i dont know why they would even put the idea of ectopic in your head, and also dont understand why you wouldnt get your beta bw#s back before next week!! since they did do the bloodwork youd think they would just write stat on it so you could get the info today!!

Re: help! sac at 4 wks??

4 wks is incredibly early -- sometimes you're lucky and sometimes you're not. At 4 wks they saw an empty black sac on my sono (pic in profile) - but I know it's not always the case.

Easy to say, but try not to freak out too much, it likely was just way too early to see anything.

4 weeks is soooooo early. I don't even understand why a doctor would do a sonogram that early.
I was with an RE and they wouldn't do one until 5.5 weeks, at that point all that could be seen was an empty sac.

At my 4 week they saw one sac but my 6 week there were two and they have the same edd so he said I must have been lucky to even see the one. 4 weeks is really really early.

Re: help! sac at 4 wks??

at 4 weeks you can see a sac but its much more common not to see one, usually at 5 weeks they see the sac. At my 5w3d appt. we saw the sac and a week later the HB.

Good Luck and think positive, it's still very very early.Chat Icon

Re: help! sac at 4 wks??

4 weeks is too early. I went at 4 or 5 weeks too and they did blood work and a sono....saw nothing. I went back a week later and there were 2 sacks. I went from thinking there was nothing to having twins. You just never know. Good luck!!! The blood work is more important than the sono at 4 weeks. I hope you hear good news soon.

i know! the dr. killed my mood... i was expecting to hear congratulations like a dork lol and she began with "i just have to warn you..." ugh! Chat Icon

luckily the dr I saw on Friday was much nicer and didnt seem as worried, but she said that wednesdays bloodwork probably didnt come back bc it was a friday Chat Icon ..whatever that means! I agree, they should know better than to make us keep waiting! at least if the betas were low on wed. I wouldve justified not seeing anything...

same thing happened to me! I have to go back again this sunday to do another sono and make sure they can see something. My OB said 4 weeks was way to early but they did freak me out with all the ectopic explanations. I'm sure everything will be fine when you go back in a few weeks.

I knew I was pregnant and went early on to confirm. They saw something forming but couldn't confirm 100%. Then I went two weeks later and saw a hb. GL
