So Friday I took her to the Ped ... I noticed tiny sores in her mouth. Yes, she has coxsackie. The kicker... NO ear infection. So Urgent Care had us pay for and start her on antibiotics that she didn't need. Her ped said her ears are PERFECT when 12 hours before, they urgent care doc said she had a bad right inner ear infection.
Oh well. 48 hours later and she looks a milion times better already. Luckily, seems like a mild case of coxsackie, sores limited to her throat/tongue only!
I knew it wasn't just an ear infection Oh wow!!! Can you fm me what urgent care you went to? I swear once I went and they said ds had one when he didn't. Hope your dd is feeling better!!!
premier care bellmore on merrick rd. who knows, maybe her ear was red but the ped said it was "perfect" 12 hours later. Maybe those 2 does of antibiotics did the trick
Between the 2 doses of antibiotics and the Advil and/or Tylenol that you were giving her it is possible for her ear to appear better especially if it was just an inflammation and not an infection. One ped in my dr office said ds had an ear infection and 24 hours later another said it was just an inflammation. He had Roseola at the time.

Re: HIGH fever... UPDATE at bottom
Ds was diagnosed and treated for an ear infection at PM pediatrics on mothers day (he said based on the cold he had that week and the fact that there was "some" fluid in the ear, it was likely an ear infection) and it turned out to be roseola. Honestly, there is just no way to know until it is a few days in. Had I know it was going around day care then I would have atleast had an idea, but the kid that had it didn't tell anyone until after!
Roseola and coxsackie are hard to diagnose early on... so annoying!

no, this was "oh yea, full blown middle ear infection with fluid behind the tympanic membrane" and then "ears are pristine"
but yes, anything is possible!
