Honda Odyssey Vs. Toyota Sienna

I'm transitioning from an SUV to a minivan. I do like the Town and Country but have heard too many negative things about their customer service.

We looked at the Odyssey yesterday. I really liked it, but i'm concerned with it being front wheel drive and not having an AWD option. Just wondering how it handles in the snow. Aside from the kids, I have my own business so I need something I won't ever feel stuck at home with.

Also, if you leased with no money down, just wondering what your payments are. Feel free to FM me..TY!!

We have a 2012 Odyssey, its my wife's.

On the snowy days this winter I took it to work instead of my mustang. I went into work every day it snowed this winter.

Either or, I don't see the need for AWD. You just have to be careful, slow and not do anything stupid.

We LOVE our Odyssey, big screens and convenient controls. Handles nicely, quick. We liked it better than the Sienna at the time. We felt everything was a bit nicer in the models we were looking at. We have an EX-L with RES.

Re: Honda Odyssey Vs. Toyota Sienna

We have the odyssey. We did not have any issues with all the snow we had last year. I heard the new models have pre-installed vacuums in the back. That would be a big plus for me.

So jealous we don't have that vacuum -

we have a 2011 - and I love my Odyssey so much - I don't know how I lived that long without it!

We liked that we had the option for 2nd row to be a bench or bucket and the odyssey is the only van that you can have the car seats attached in all 6 seats (3 in the 2nd row and 3 in the 3rd row) not that I plan in having 6 kids - lol - but it is nice to have the option to set up our three car seats in any combo in the 2nd or 3rd row!! Depending on how much or little trunk space is needed!

I also felt the seats were more comfy in the odyssey than the other vans we shopped for!

If you have any more question please let me know!!

Thank you everyone! I still can't believe I am getting a minivan. I always said never lol. We test drove the Sienna yesterday. I think I prefer the Odyssey. Both handled pretty well but it seemed to me like the Odyssey had more pep. Funny though, the Toyota salesman thought the grocery bag hooks were for car seats :0

Re: Honda Odyssey Vs. Toyota Sienna

We have the Sienna AWD - its the main reason we got the Sienna. We happen to live in a very hilly neighborhood and while I saw a lot of people trapped on the side of the road this past winter (including some of the Honda's) I had no problems.

One of our friends has the odyssey and couldn't make it into her neighborhood a few winters ago. She had to park at the train station and walk home in the snow storm with her two small children. After hearing that we decided we would only get AWD - I would not want to be stuck anywhere!

I have no experience with either van, but we will be getting a minivan too, trading in our SUV so I have the same concerns. I have heard that you should look into getting snow tires during the winter and that snow tires will be better than awd with regular tires in the snow.

I want the option of the bench seat in the second row so we will be going with a fwd whether we choose the Odyssey or the Sienna.

We looked at both back in 2011 when we were expecting twins. We ultimately went with the Sienna because of price. We bought in September of 2011- Honda wanted $2000 more for the same options as we would get in the Toyota. When I told Toyota I had already put a deposit down at Honda, but wanted to test drive a Sienna, they offered me a 2012 instead of a 2011 for the same price. I just had to wait for the color I wanted to come in since they only had 2011's on the lot. At that point it was a no brainer. We did not get the AWD option but have never had issues in the snow.

ETA: went back to Honda to tell them what Toyota was doing for us, they said here is your deposit back and didn't even try to match it.

Re: Honda Odyssey Vs. Toyota Sienna

We just leased an oddyssey a couple if weeks ago after having an Acadia. I love it so much! So much more room for our 3 kids.

A few things to know. In order to get the vacuum you need the highest equipped version which is very expensive. Same with the AWD Sienna...it is only offered in the top of the line model.

Honestly don't think you can go wrong with either. I just liked the honda better.

We wound up going with the Odyssey Ex-L. We leased it as well and opted not to get the Touring which has the vacuum. FYI We went to Atlantic Honda in Bay Shore and they did bring there price down and add in Navigation when we told them what Toyota was offering.

I agree, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

We have ex-l too but with DVD instead of navigation.
