Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I am spinning off my own post-I tried searching old posts but I have too much of a headache to go through them all.
My birthday is at the end of the month so my parents and DH were planning on buying me nursing PJs and the like for the hospital.
I don't want to be wasteful, so I want to tell them exactly what I need. I like pants better on pajamas, but I am not sure where the incision will be and what would be most practical. My parents are going to order for me in the next two weeks so I want to tell them exactly what I want/need.
It doesn't have to be too warm because of where I live. I have a nice robe to go over whatever I get.
Also, do I need cheap undies and if so, what kind? I have no desire to ruin Victorias Secret undies and they are all hipsters anyway.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I'm not a BTDT mom but in my bag I have 2 packages of HUGE underwear from target, like $6 each package. I'm bringing 2 nightgowns 2 pants sets and a few sweatpants with very loose bands. I've heard so much back and forth of pants and nightgowns I think its just preference so I'm bringing both. As far as a robe, I'm just bringing a long black sweater so I dont feel like an ugly patient when people come to visit. I'll let you know how all this goes though!

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I am all about the pregnancy board today!
For me, personally, I brought cheapie PJ sets from target that I didn't care so much about ruining (even with a section, you still bleed a LOT ). The incision is so low - like right on your hairline, that I was able to wear the PJ bottoms with no problems. For undies, I used the mesh ones that the hospital provided for the whole time I was there, except for the last day when I was going home. Whatever you end up getting, DEFINITELY get the next size (or 2) up - you will still be very swollen.
What else?

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I wore plain cotton, high cut granny panties after my c/s. I found the low rise ones cut right into the incision and were uncomfy.
Some hospitals provide these mesh underwear things - mine does not.
I prefer pants with my pajamas as well, and stuck with something with a small elastic band and tie - none with those thick/wide elastic bands because they were always TOO snug on the incision. I also got them in a bigger size so I can pull them up higher, and they wouldnt be too short, so they did not sit on the incision.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
For the undies I bought the high-waisted, ones that sit right under your belly button. The incision is pretty low, so the mid-brief ones I originally bought sat right on the cut. But the REALLY granny panties ones worked just fine. I just bought the hanes/fruit of the loom 5 pack or whatever.
Again, with the PJ's, I would say anything high-waisted is a safe bet. I honestly cannot remember what I wore for pj's after DD was born

Nope - no nursing tops - the PJ sets I got came with button-down tops. They weren't specificall maternity or nursing PJ's, but they did the trick!

I brought granny panties from target. They go so far over your incision and you can throw them out because you bleed a lot and it gets messy.
I brought one size up in pajama pants and they sat high up on me. THe incision is pretty low, so it did not touch it. I got mine from target too.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I wore the hospital gown for 2 days and then I had night shirts for the next 2 nights. It wouldnt have been the worst thing to bend over and put pants on, but I just like the night shirts type things better.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I hate nightgowns, I wore PJ bottoms the whole time I was there except for the first night right after the c-section, while I was still hooked up to everything and was in the hospital gown. Just make sure nothing is low-rise, because you don't want the band right on your incision.
I bought granny panties, but in my regular size, which wound up being too small. DH had to go out and buy huge ones. There were appaling to look at, but did the job.
I also wouldn't bother with expensive nursing pj's. Get a few nursing tanks and tops that have buttons, and you should be good to go.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
get the granny panties, you will be glad you did
ALSO, they give you those mega huge diapers (oops, I mean maxi pads ) for the after birth carnage....take one of those and place it over your incision (sticky side out, stuck to the granny panties obviously), it will help tremendously with the pain and soreness

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
You will def. need granny panties..I had to make DH go and buy some for me. Target has fruit of the looms..6 for like $7 i think.
I had 2 nightgowns that unbuttoned for easy breastfeeding, but I found I was more comfy in the PJ pants..I just pulled the waist above my incision.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I had a C and I did not change out of the hospital gown for 4 days (I did put on clean gowns though). Bring a robe with you to put over the gown. I was in too much pain to bother with putting on PJs, plus I was nursing so it was just easier. They will give you the disposable undies, but I had my mom buy me "granny panties" for when I got home

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I used the mesh undies that the hospital provided - no reason to ruin your own....and def get LARGE grannie panties...you don't want anything touching the incision. Also - you PJ pants should be high enough that they won't bother it. Def dress cool - short sleeves and think pj pants and you can have a sweatshirt handy in case you get cold - which i highyl doubt
Def bring flip flops! I brough 2 pairs - one for the shower (that i could throw away before i came home) and one to wear the rest of the time.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I went to Target and got a package of granny panties one size bigger than I am. I was VERY swollen after my c-section because they pump you with IV fluids.
I wore the hospital gown the whole first day. The 2nd day when I could move around and for the rest of the time I was in the hospital I was in ypga pants. They were the most comfortable for me (I wasn't nursing and just wore regular t-shirts). I'm not a nightshirt type girl and I didn't want to wear a robe.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
I ended up wearing a hospital gown the entire time. Between the bleeding and the fairly frequent incision checks the first few days, it was just easier to wear the gown. Plus, it had snaps at the top, which made it easy for BFing.
My hospital provided mesh underwear, but I had a horrible allergic reaction to it. I ended up getting really cheap granny underwear at Kohl's. I didn't want anything near my incision.

Re: Hospital Bag Question for BTDT C-Section moms
Went to Target & bought granny panties that come in a pack of 5 or 6, Hanes or whatever, I also got pajama bottoms a size or 2 too big, with draw-strings. They also sell nursing cammies there, I wore those under zippered hoodies or DH's button-down shirts, so I felt kind of dressed when I had visitors.
