hosting a party
i've slowly become the de facto easter host for the family.
because i get this holiday, i'm not in the family rotation for the other major holidays... and i like it.
i do brunch.
slowly, this event/meal is getting bigger and bigger.
my question is
would you advise i get "legit" chafing dishes or should i buy the disposable kinds?
i am most likely not to host too many other events in my home that require a chafing dish.
the event has grown over the years and my guest count for this year is 60. should i invest a few more dollars to have something nice or am i asking to use up too much storage space of my little home?
aahhh, first world problems

Are you talking about the sterno things with the racks vs a stainless steel electric thing?
I’d get the sternos. We host Christmas for 50 people and use the sternos in the racks every year. Once we take the food out of the oven and put it over the sternos it all stays pretty warm for a while
We use them all the time for other random times when we have people over
My vote is sternos

I have nice chafing dishes and I never use them. We always use the disposable ones anyway. Mostly because the nice ones are on the smaller side. You can't fit a ton in them. When I host smaller family parties I do use them thou and they do look much nicer.

100% sternos. I would reuse the metal wire holders though.

Agreed. Though I do have one electric heated buffet type thing. It has three openings and is good for smaller side dishes. I got it as a wedding present literally a decade ago so I don't know the make or anything but something like this. It comes in handy!

I host a million events and have the sterno racks (easy to store since they stack one inside the other) and get disposable trays- so much easier for cleanup. I do save the longer ones you put the water in until they become gross looking LOL I also grab a bunch of the disposable serving spoons ( I was finding my nice ones were getting tossed/lost during clean up)

I have fancy chafing dishes and I never use them. They are copper and a pain in the butt to clean. I have about 10 sterno racks and water trays and just use the disposable trays. So much easier for clean up.
