antipasto platter
deep friend fresh mozzarella sandwiches w sauce on side
baked clams

dinner: spicy red sauce w lobster, clams, calamari, mussels, sea scallops, shrimp

penne ala vodka
broccolli raab w garlic and oil
Garlic bread
homemade garlic knots

dessert: smores ice cream cake
krispy creme bread pudding
creme brulee
fruit platter


edited to add my penne due to my fish allergy folks...

Here is what we usually have at our Italian Xmas eve bash at my aunts.

A TON OF SHRIMP COCKTAILS
Olives...blah blah blah.. a ton of appts though!! too much to list and remember..

Dinner..

linguinie with clam sauce
Linguinie with marinara sauce
shrimp scampi
FRIED EEL!! (sooo good)
Lobster tails
Stuffed Mushrooms
Stuff sole
Bacala salad
Aleech..(sp)
Ummmmm can't remember the rest.....but I know there is more!!!!! I dont' know how she does it all!!!!!Chat Icon

Baked artichoke hearts with bread crumbs
Shrimp and crab meat cocktail

Green salad with oil and vinegar
Fried oysters and clams
Angel hair with shrimp in red sauce
Spaghetti and meatballs
Shrimp Francaise
Spaghetti with clam sauce
Escarole with pine nuts




I might be stealing your baked artichoke hearts with breadcrumbs- yummmy- you have a recipe?

I'm hosting too and just put my fish order in (thank God I don't have to stand online at Southside this year).

Last year my mom got way to much fish (I swear, she still has some of it in the freezer).

for apps:
platter of shrimp cocktail & lump crabmeat with cocktail sauce
assorted italian hard cheeses

main course
pasta with marinara sauce with lobster, scallops and mussels
clams oreganata
mussels in white wine sauce
breaded & fried smelts
escarole with garlic
roasted asparagus

curious to see if anyone else is having Xmas eve-Italian-style.....
I am still fairly new at having this tradition now with my own family (my mom did it growing up) and love the ideas so far!
