How did you go about finding your in-home daycare (not a nanny)?
TIA
And if anyone has any suggestion for in-home daycares in Suffolk (mid-island to south shore) that would be good too!

I found mine here.
You can pretty much tell which ones are in home and which ones are centers.

Craigslist believe it or not.
I was looking for someone to come to the house so I posted my ad. Well, a wonderful woman named Vicki told me about her licensed in-home day care in Selden (right off Nicholls Road - perfect to jump on the LIE or Sunrise). We went for a visit just because she seemed so nice and would let my son's early intervention teacher come there without any problems. Well, we wound up loving this place. We cannot say enough good things about it. The tax deduction was a huge plus too!
Precious Beginnings Day Care is awesome. Great staff and my three kids LOVE going there.

I used this too, and just started calling the ones with no violations, and less kids. Lots were full, and I was able to get further recommendations in an area nearby I hadn't thought to check.

Ours is a former teacher at the boys' daycare center...she resigned just as we gave notice we were pulling them out. She comes about 1x per week, and it works so well! Plus she's been with my older DS since he was 10wks old, and he's now 3yo.

check local preschool (not daycare), they usually have a list/recommendation. I got mine that way.
