how did you mail a passport renewal?
I just did this less then a month ago. I went to post office kiosk and did 2 day which gave me a reciept with tracking info. The turn around right now is very fast, it was processed in less then 10 days.

I didn't send it with tracking at all, which I know is terrible. I knew they got it when they cashed my check. I also didn't pay for expedited delivery and I had my passport back in about 2 weeks.

Re: how did you mail a passport renewal?
This is too strange. I was just going to post about this. I am going away in 7 weeks. I have to renew mine. What is the easiest way. It says it could take up to 8 weeks to process. I am wondering if I can avoid the expedite and fee. Those that mailed it in, where did you take the picture?

With a trip 7 weeks away, I wouldn't risk it. I would pay the expedite fee.

Re: how did you mail a passport renewal?
I would not pay for expedited. I got a brand new passport in less than 10 days. I applied like 2 weeks ago.

I didn't end up paying for it. It is now $75 per person for expedite instead of $60. That would have been $150 for me and DH. The guy at post office said I should have it, but if in five or six weeks I don't, I can call a number and pay then to have it expedited. I feel I should have it. My trip is in 7 and a half weeks.

Re: how did you mail a passport renewal?
Sent priority mail.
I paid for them to expedite it and overnight back to me. (Extra $75 each)
They got the paperwork on Monday June 19th. I had the passport on Saturday the 24th.
I got the passport cards yesterday.

Re: how did you mail a passport renewal?
I fell like passports are so antiquated in this day and age. It reminds me of a passbook savings account at the bank where you have to bring your book in to get it updated.
You would think they would have something more high tech- like somehow connect it to your driver's license so you can just have one document to carry. Something that is small and scanable. Not an old school book with pages that they stamp with a rubber stamp from 1957
I know they have the passport cards but they aren't good to travel everywhere.
It just seems so old school and kludgy to have to keep getting these passports.

Hi there. I got the passports today. I think I mailed it out when you first originally mailed your's. It took about two weeks from when they received it from post office, two and a half weeks from when they were mailed. Still have over a month to spare before traveling so I am glad we didn't spend extra money to expedite it for two passports.

There are parts of the world where the border crossing is a joke. A scannable passport is not going to work there.
