Re: how do you de-thaw home made food cubes?
I used to just take them out & let them melt in the fridge overnight. I try not to microwave b/c it can have hot spots.

You can vary the % on the microwave?

I put the cube in one of DS little BPA free plastic bowls then put that bowl in a bowl of hot water. As it started to defrost, I would break it up and stir it. I only used the microwave when I was in a rush.

I put it in the in microwave in glass bowls only at 50% power and then stirred well, let it sit for a minute or two (while I prepped cereal or my food) then stirred it well again.

I put them in a small ziploc sandwich bag & put that in a pot of hot water. Not hot spots & the meat doesn't dry out.

Re: how do you de-thaw home made food cubes?
put in small glass bowl and nuke for 15-25 sec. some is warm, some is frozen... break up the remaining frozen parts with his spoon and everything becomes room temp Pear needs 15sec, and dense things like peas require closer to 25sec.... (also pear I serve a bit cooler than room temp, and peas a bit warmer)
I never heat his stuff up in plastic.....

GREAT idea~ I've been using the defrost button on the microwave, but I think I'll be doing this from now on!

Re: how do you de-thaw home made food cubes?
Thanks for the responses... I have been giving her luke warm food, so if I defrost overnight I still have to heat before eating.
