How do you get the nailpolish to stay on for longer than 2 days????

I have given up on doing red polish for my Vegas trip-anything color starts coming off the next day and it is always so obvious.

But I am worried about a light color as well-polish just doesn't stay on me at all... Is it the lifestyle, 2 small kids and all the housework? Or is there a trick that I don't know?? How is it that women have perfectly polished nails for the whole week of their vacation and mine starts chipping the next day?? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anyone have any ideas??

When I go away, I always get a gel manicure before I go. That usually solves the problem.

Do not use a basecoat & let the first layer dry completely before applying a second coat.

Best trick I have learned is NO base coat.
I have never in all my years found anything to make polish stay put.
I have tried it ALL!
That trick works like a CHARM!

Apparently the polish adheres much better to your nail than to a base coat.

Definitely try it- it's a cheap solution too!

I've tried the no base coat trick and my mani still only lasts for 3 days. The best solutions I have found are either Sticky Base (Creative Nail Design) or First Base (Essie) and use polish with shimmer in it - creme style polishes just don't last as long for me.

I apply a new top coat every 3 days. Your nails will always look like you just painted them. (and they won't chip)

I tried the no base coat trick and it didn't work for me and it turned my nails yellow!

This week I have Waltz w/ Starter Wife and I had the manicurist do it on the thinner side so it's sheer. I use Quick Dry.

I am very rough on my hands and dark colors never stay on me. I used to have UV gel nails and they were great but I couldn't sit there anymore...it took too long.

It is a base and then a light gel that goes over your nails where you put them under a UV light

2-3 weeks...no chipping

$23 in Brooklyn.....I have 2 kids too and this is the only way i could have nice nails

the only true way is to just buy a bottle of the nail polish and bring it with you so you can touch it up. also bring a bottle of clear and give 1 coat every day

I truly believe its the person who does your nails. After doing my nails for over 15 years, last year i found a place that when they do my nails, it NEVER chips. I also stay under the dryer for 15 minutes exactly.

Essie. it seems to be the only brand that never chips. Day 5 right now, not 1 chip.

I agree. The women you see with perfect nails towards the end of the vacation, probably just throw a bottle of polish and top coat in their toiletry bag and touch up chips as they happen all week.
That is what I do...
