How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
Baby #2 is going to be born in October and I really don't want to do the baptism until the weather is a bit warmer. Plus if I went by the 3 month mark, I'd be in December and I know everyone is busy then with the holidays.
Would it be terrible to wait until April?

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
DD was just baptised this past weekend and she was a little over 6 months. She was an absolute angel. DD was born in Novemeber and we wanted warmer weather too, not as HOT as we got, but it was still perfect. I think waiting til April is fine!!

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
DD was born in January and I didn't even *think* about planning her christening until March rolled around. She'll be 3 days shy of 6 months old at her Christening.
There's nothing wrong with waiting a little bit!

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
DD was 8 months and it worked out fine. I know most people do it around the 2-3 month mark, but I think with the holidays you could definitley get away with waiting for a while. A friend hard her son's christening in Feb a couple years ago and we got so much snow that weekend that a lot of people cancelled. It wasn't the end of the world, but definitely something you would avoid by waiting for the warmer weather.

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
We are planning on having it in July. DS will be 3 months, but if I were you I would probably also wait until it was warmer. April is fine.

DD was born in October and we are having the christening in 2 weeks! We wanted to wait for the weather to be nicer so we could have it at our house in the backyard.
ETA - she will be 8 months 1 day old!

We waited a little over 5 months. With two it was impossible to even think about throwing a party until they were sleeping through the night.

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
7.5 months. DS was born in Sept and I didn't want to have it in the winter either. It worked out fine. The only problem I had was during the ceremony DS wanted to roll around the floor instead of being held

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
I'm looking at her interfaith blessing at about October... she was born May 4. I have no idea how we are going to pay for this and I have no time to deal with it. It's mostly DH's friends and family anyway - I have no extended family here and a handful of friends to invite... plus with footing the bill this time for people's kids... to bad I can't do what I did for my wedding - adults only - my MIL would FREAK OUT! I know you have to have kids at these things... it's just expensive. Hopefully I'll find a place where kids under a certain age eat free, in fact that will be a deciding factor in the place we choose.

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
John was about 4.5 weeks, baby#2 will be 5 weeks. I come from a very religious Italian family who still believe in baptizing baby's asap, DH's Puerto Rican family think I'm nuts. I was baptised at 3 weeks

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
Ella was 2 months, Erik will be almost 2.5 months. I planned them when they were young so I could have outdoor parties in the summer months (though Ella's was cold and wet with thunderstorms - in August! I hope to have better luck with Erik's)

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?
This is why we waited with both kids.
DS was born in Jan, had it in July.
DD was born in August, and having it this month.
We wanted to have something at our house and would need to have people outside since we had and are having 40+ people and could not fit them all in my house. So a tent is necessary.
I always wanted to have it when the kids were 2 months, but didn't work out that way.
