We had DS baptised at a week shy of 3 months more because he was starting daycare and I am superstitious...plus our family would have flipped.

But there was a huge range in age of all the kids at the church.

You can and should do it when you want.

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?

Bella was born in September and we held off because I was in my cousin's wedding first week of November as a MOH and then there was all the holidays.

We had it in March, when she was just over 6 months old.

ETA: April sounds fine to me...I didn't feel in a rush to get her baptized, but I did want to do it before 9 months.

3 months and she was one of the older babies at her baptism. I am looking forward to a winter baptism. I hated squeezing my post partum fat body into a summer dress Chat Icon Winter works well!! Chat Icon

We christened my DS when he was almost 2.5 months. We actually had it December 16th. I am due at the end of October, and we will probably have the christening in January. I do not want to wait too long.

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?

DS was a little over 4 months. I would do it earlier if I had to do it over, but ours was in the beginning of April and the weather was great.

I wouldn't wait until May if you are going to book a place - you start to compete with communions, and graduations.

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?

We waited until she was 7 months old since she has a cousin only a few months older who got baptized at Easter break and didn't want to steal her thunder. All of our family(other than Bro and SIL) live out of town so I had to wait for the next holiday time which was summer.

I had both my kids Baptized at 3 months (it was August and HOT!). However, in your case, I would most certainly wait until the warmer weather!

Re: How far after your dc was born, did you have the baptism?

I had Julia's baptism in September (she was 2 months old) and we picked the hottest day, and our church doesn't have AC we were all dying, so for Todd Jr I decided to wait a little bit and have his in October when its cooler out, hopefully--lol

You can have his/her baptism when ever you want, April would be fine!Chat Icon
