How long are your kids on the bus for?

I'm just curious...

If DS gets the bus from daycare, 2 miles from our house/school, he is on the bus for 45 minutes. The other two elementary schools are just as far from daycare but, kids are only on the bus 10 minutes max.

This morning, we dropped of DS 2 at daycare, paid the bill, chatted for a couple minutes with his teacher, signed up for the party, went to the supermarket for 20 minutes, dropped off DS 1 at school and I passed the bus while I was about to turn down my street. I knew it was long but, thinking about how much I did in less than the amount of time DS would be on the bus was eye opening.

On the way back to daycare it doesn't seem to take that long though - only 30 minutes.

Thanks!

We're fairly close to the elementary school. In the morning she gets picked up at 8:55-9 and is at school by 9:20'ish. In the afternoon, the buses pull away about 3:40, she's home and off the bus at 3:50.

Thanks. I am going to reach out to the director of transportation. I know there probably isn't much he can do but, he did make an adjustment to the buses that services the close school from daycare (they were getting picked up at 8:50-8:55 and school starts at 9 so they were consistently late).

It's very hard to compare times. For daycare and minibuses they are picking up multiple children in a variety of neighborhoods. They have to stop, load the kids and move to the next house. It will never be as quick as a regular elementary bus that have a designated route and bus stops. DD is on a minibus and some years was on for almost an hour. By law it has to be 90 minutes or less each way.

It's a regular bus that has a designated route and bus stops - it just also stops at daycare (which seems to be the first stop). It leaves daycare at 8:15 with maybe 5-8 kids and then picks up the rest of the route (which doesn't start too far from the daycare).

We are the first stop in the morning and first stop after school.

They don't take the bus going but would be about 20 minutes.

Coming home is 3 minutes

How long are your kids on the bus for?

DD probably about 30 min and 35 on the way home. But seperate question what happens when the bus gets to school. I had to drop off DD at school one day and school doors open at 845. So the buses were pulling up at 835 and the kids sit there in the bus for 10 min. Is that normal?

About 20 mins in the morning because they are doing construction near the school and it adds at least 5 mins with rush hour traffic. 10-15 mins in the afternoon.

I guess it's better than letting them out. At our school, drop off starts at 8:45. There aren't any busses there before 8:45 from what I've seen and the parents wait with their children until the aides come out to supervise them.

Maybe 15 minutes. School gets out at 3 pm. Bus drops off at 3:15-3:17.

In the morning, pick up is around 8:10-12, and school starts at 8:30.

DD attends private school. This year she is the last kid to be picked up, so she spends whatever amount of time it takes to get from our house to school. Last year she was the second to last kid to be picked up, so she spent an additional 15 minutes on the bus.
