I almost always work through lunch.

I have a lot of flexibility though if I need to take a few hours off for anything.

We have a one hour paid lunch break, however no one in my office ever takes it. We usually always either order lunch & eat at our desk or go out pick up lunch & eat at our desk. So I guess its considered a working lunch. However, if we do need to take care of personal business during the hour our boss is more then welcome to let us since normally we work during our lunch hour.

technically it is an hour. And according to our handbook it is supposed to be taken between 12pm-2pm, but that is not enforced. People often take it early or late to run errands. A lot of people don't take a lunch at all, but we don't get paid so I almost always take a lunch.

I think 50 minutes. I never take that. I eat at my desk and come on here when I can lol.

1 hour, not paid for hourly employees.

It used to be a paid lunch for hourly employees but they took that away (along with a bunch of other "perks".

But I'm salary so that doesn't really affect me. With our old office manager, we had to take lunch at the same time everyday and alternate with the other employees so there is always someone to cover the phones and then a backup for that person. She would practically time us to make sure we didn't go over the hour. If the office was ordering food and the food came after your allotted lunch time, you were basically SOL unless you asked permission to go later.

Since we got a new office manager who is awesomely amazing, we have also moved offices and have a receptionist who has his own backup so we don't have to coordinate lunchtimes . Also she doesn't time us and doesn't care if we are 5-10 minutes late. If we order lunch, we can wait until the food gets there to start our break. It's soo much better now!

I can't believe I just wrote a novel on lunch hours lol

I work 9-5 with an allowed 1 hour lunch break. I can take it or not, no one cares. I can even take longer if I wanted to, no one would even notice if it was an hour and a half or anything. My department policy is basically...get your work done and no one cares about the hours you keep.

i have a crummy manager who can't or doesn't enforce ANYTHING at all!! AND he plays favorites with employees... he's not a good manager AT ALL!!

There are people who come in 30 mins late EVERY SINGLE DAY and leave ontime every single day. He says not a peep about it. BUT if it this was going on with an employee he "didn't care for" he would write all about it in their evaluation... still though he wouldn't talk to them about it because he's a big ol pusssy!!!

I assume I get an hour for lunch.
But I'm salaried so nothing is concrete.
But since an hour is standard that is what I TRY to stick to.
Most of the time I go over.
But it is NOT enforced.
My boss is the coolest.

My lunch break is one hour and yes, it is enforced. We have to "clock in" on the computer when we arrive in the morning, in and out for lunch, and at the end of the day.

Though, it's better than before when it was MY job to keep track of the secretaries and the time they came in and left for lunch. They were so sneaky and they did everything to get around it. Made my job hell!

ETA: We do not get paid for lunch. work 9-5 and get paid 7 hours for the day.

i think its 45 mins but everyone takes a hour. its enforced for some areas but others we are allowed to just eat at our desks (like mine) and then go out for a hour to do whatever or bank it to leave early one day as long as you don't abuse it.

Everyone normally takes an hour, I think the handbook says 30 minutes. But usually that hour is spent sitting in front of the computer anyway.

We get an hour and it's not strictly enforced. In some departments it is, but top management doesn't really care.

Teacher- 1/2 hour ( but it usually ends up being 20 minutes or so of copying and checking e-mail/making parent calls and then scarfing down my food in 5-10 min plus bathroom break!)

I don't really get a lunch break.

I mean, you go out and buy your lunch...come back and eat at your desk. It's just that kind of culture since it's a trading floor. Chained to the desk at least 9.5 hours a day.

though, it's fine to run an errand during lunch now and then.

30 mins, but I usually stay at my desk and eat my lunch. So when I do go out, I take about an hour.

My boss leaves everyday for about two hours for lunch and to stop at one of our other offices, so he is never here for my lunch break anyway!
