How many days of a low fever is cause for concern?
DD has had a 100/101 fever since Sunday.. the Ped's office isn't concerned unless it goes above 102... but is there a certain number of days with a low fever where you start to get concerned?
Other symptoms include nose congestion, very lethargic, loss of appetite, continuing cough from a cold she had two weeks ago . Not eating much but drinking plenty of fluids.
At what point does it go from "you just gotta ride it out, it's a cold..." to "Hmm, this is suspicious..."?

I think if you're concerneed just brng her in. Have them look at her and examine her, even if it's just for your own peace of mind. The same was happening with DS #2 and he's only 4 months old I kept brining him in....unfortunately in my case it was bronchiolitis combined with teething.

my ped tells me to give motrin/tylenol but if he isn't better and fever isn't gone within 3 days, bring him in to be seen. and he has been right so far! This has happened to us twice already -- by day 3 of the low fever i brought him in to be checked out and both times = ear infection

Re: How many days of a low fever is cause for concern?
for me: 101 is the perfect cooking temp
I let her 'cook' without meds to burn off whatever's working at her.
That said, 3 days is a max for me. I don't call the ped until after day 3 if I see no improvement. AJ used to get ear infections which never really affected her much (sometimes) but maybe a small low grade fever.
If she's clear to go, I'd wait another 3days. But i make them see her. I figure what do they care, my insurance is paying for it and im the one taking time off work.

Re: How many days of a low fever is cause for concern?
I'm always concerned if a fever lasts a few days and I always take my DD in just to make sure everythings alright. Id rather know its nothing than wait it out. This past weekend, DD had a fever saturday thru sunday and i took her to the ped monday morning. by monday night the fever was gone but still signs of congestion and irritability. the ped called to check on her and when i told her she still had symptoms, she told me to come in next day. i did and she had an ear infection.

ds been having the same thing - not sure of his temp bc i don't bother fighting him - he's prone to febrile seizures so at any temp higher than normal body temp he gets motrin.
that being said he had a fever 2 nights in a row - only at night - tonight is the first night that he didn't have a fever--
very odd bc its only at night - i gave him motrin it goes away within a couple of hours and he' was fine without any medication until the next night.
i think a bug is going around -
i would give it 3 days

When you say "very lethargic"' does that mean you are having a hard time waking her up?????

My DD had those same symptoms and ended up having pneumonia. You should take her in just to make sure she's ok.

No she gets up and plays but doesn't last her usual 3-4 hours before needing a nap, and her naps are waaayyyy longer.
The fever has finally broken and was normal this morning, hoping we're turning things around!

I bring DC to ped if they have fever for two days. If they find nothing wrong, they always tell me not to worry unless it lasts for more than 5 days or has new symptoms.

After 2 days I bring them in. My boys were like this a couple of weeks ago and it turned out they both had ear infections.
