How many extra curricular activities is your K DC involved in?

Do you have your 5 YO K DC in any activities? If so how many? I'm debating on what to enroll DD in. We tried ballet a few times she didn't like it. I was thinking swim, gymnastics or something of the sort. I don't want to overwhelm her but I'm curious to know as what is normal. I'm also a FTWOHM so anything we do would have to be during the weekend. TIA

Right now, my K is just in soccer. He has done gymnastics and swimming in the past, but I think I won't start those up until after soccer, since with two kids soccer is 4 days a week.

We do gymnastics on fridays and soccer on Sat. This way it doesn't interfere with homework and she is a walker so we do a little playdate time at the playground when she gets out. I like that gymnastics is on fridays because if she is tired (and she usually is) she doesn't have work to do, and she doesn't have to be up early the next morning. I am not crazy about soccer on Sat though because it is at 1015 and then makes it hard to really do much that day because by the time she gets out it is lunch time - and then hard to try and do something like the zoo etc when you don't get going until 1230-1pm.

DD is in K and does karate 2-3x a week and will do Daisy Scouts when that starts. Other than that, I am keeping her free because she comes home exhausted.

My plan is to stick to 2 activities at a time. Right now my DD is doing Tae Kwon Do and soccer (each once a week). Once soccer is over, I will enroll her in something else - most likely, either ice skating lessons or an indoor sport. I know in Spring she'll do softball.

We just got into gymnastics off the waiting list that I was telling you about. We are doing it on Fridays for the same reasons you are. DS's teacher does not give homework on Fridays.

Right now his activities are gymnastics and soccer. He will also join after school clubs. I would love for him to take a drama class but I may wait until Spring. He has a lot on his plate, IMHO. Also in the Spring he will resume swimming. I am not interested in having him swim through the winter so we will probably give him some private lessons before he starts camp, so there is more of a chance of him passing the deep water test at camp. I do not know exactly how many activities he will have in Spring or mid-winter.

DH and I agreed to two activities max. She has dance once a week for an hour. I was going to enroll her in art, which was going to be once a week for 8 weeks, but decided to wait. She also wants to be a Daisy Scout, so those will be her two things. Depending on how things go, I may do an art class in the spring if she's up for it, but those only run 4-8 weeks.

DS does swim on Fridays and Ice Skating on Saturdays.

I feel like he is too tired to do activities during the week, plus just getting everything done after school with NO activites is hard!

Mondays is Daisies.
Thursdays is Mad Science and Irish dance.
Saturdays is ballet.

Mad Science ends the last week of October and she may be starting basketball on Saturdays at that time.

DS- swim (ending in 2 weeks), piano (yr. round), soccer (ending beg. of Nov)

DD- swim, piano.

They will pick up swim again in the spring/summer depending if DS wants to play soccer. If he does, we will do swimming in the summer.

I didn't want or plan to have three at the same time, schedules overlapped a bit.

Re: How many extra curricular activities is your K DC involved in?

My K DD does dance and soccer. We have always done dance on Saturdays because it is hard for me to get her there during the week. When we signed up for soccer I was told it was only supposed to be on Sunday, but a practice day was added on Wednesday nights. It's a long day for her and she is exhausted.

I work at an after school center so two afternoons a week DS would take classes there- things like cooking, scatter dodge, basketball, arts and crafts, etc... He also did soccer on Saturdays in the fall and little league during the spring.

Re: How many extra curricular activities is your K DC involved in?

DS has swim class and hebrew school. Once swimming is done in late December, I want to switch him over to ice skating. He gets home work once or twice a week to be handed in the next day. I had not planned on sending him to religion class this early, but he is in a different school district than his friends from preschool. By going to hebrew school he is able to maintain friendships that he had when he was younger.
