only once while pregnant i was dehydrated and needed an iv

When I was a baby I had a stomach virus and wound up dehydrated.

But lets stick with adulthood shall we?
No overnight stays.

My knee surgery was outpatient
Been to the ER a lot especially after my daughter was born but only spent at most 12hrs here. Didn't technically spend the night.

So other than my child's birth and excluding my OWN childhood.. none


Now I've been TO the hospital and doctor a LOT.

Near Kidney failure/severe kidney infection (handled in office)
9/11 injuries (handled in office/later knee surgery)
Really Bad Car Accident (visit to the ER)
etc


Childhood:
Broken Arm/blood poison (left broken for 3days) - Tho I could have gone home, I was retained for further Eval.
Near deathly flu (spent several days hospitalized)
Ear Tubes (remember spending 2days in a hospital for that) - had to travel for this one!
Busted head (stitches) - by the request of the military I was retained.
Burned Arm - by request of the military I was retained
Burned Hand - by the request of the military I was retained
A few other times I was retained as well, usually never more than few days.

I always wonder if it was my Dad at sea or really the Army doctors on the Navy base who made those requirements. I don't know but I loved the pediatric wards! haha

Not counting giving birth or same day procedures, 4

Gallbladder-had major rare complications stayed 2+ months

Pregnancy bedrest-10 week stay

Knee surgery (acl reconstruction)- overnight

Lap & d&c- 4 night stay

Now if we count how many times I've been under anesthesia or sedation for same day procedures that's a whole other story

once for salmonella poisoning, I went to the hospital because I thought I was dying. seriously. took them 2 weeks to figure out what it was

overnight stays or longer- 8 times...all PG complication related and once for my gallbladder removal.

ER visits/procedures...-many times.

When I was 12 I broke my arm. Spent 1 night in the hospital.

When I was pregnant with DS I had pregnancy induced hypertension and that landed me in the hospital two different times for observation and then once when I had him.

Last year I had a really bad abscess, caused my whole face to swell up like a balloon. After 3 separate trips to the oral surgeon they decided to admit me to the hospital for IV antibiotics. I was there for 3 days.

I had an ovarian cyst blow up. Fun times. Spent the ight at Mather. This was in Oct.

Last May I was taken in by ambulance for a severe C. Diff infection and spent 5 days there. It was horrible.

Other than that just when I had the baby and a few ER visits for broken bones. I was also in the ER 5 days after DS was born for continued high BP.

And quite a few procedures where I went under. Colonoscopy (2x's), Sigmoidoscopy and an Endoscopy.

DH....never. He had 1 ER visit in his life.

Me....no ER visits, aside from giving birth twice I was admitted once for 3 night before I had the twins for bedrest/monitoring.

Spent a few nights in the hospital when DS was 3 months and he was admitted.

None other than child birth. No surgeries, procedures, or ER visits ever.

Oh lets see...

I was hospitalized when I was 4 for tubes/adneoids removed
Hospitalized for 5 days back in 2001 for pneumonia
Hospitalized for 5 days back 2003 for an emergency appendectomy
Hospitalized for 3 days back in 2005 for a tonsil infection that spread throughout my body
Hospitalized in 2006 to have my tonsils removed (over night)
Then gave birth to DD in 2010, stayed for 3 days
I had a D&C in Feb 2010 due to a miscarriage


that doesnt include the 3218613 visits i made to the ER in between lol

Never had to stay over. Never broke a bone. Up until just recently, never had stitches (or surgery!).

As an infant my parents brought me to the ER because I had a high fever and ear infection but was never admitted.

Last month I had shoulder surgery, but it was ambulatory so I went home that day.

I've had two outpatient, minor procedures.

I've never (knock on wood) been hospitalized overnight or for anything serious.

I went to the ER once b/c of a bad UTI and it was late at night and mt doctor wasn't open.

Seven surgeries (due to birth defect) 6 during childhood and another at age 32. All on my ear, involved skin grafts, rib grafts, several days in the hospital each time.

1 overnight stay for kidney stones at age 17.

2 c-sections on top of that.

I went to the triage part of Brunswick ER when I was 5, to get a cast on my leg.

Then nothing until a month ago, when I was 9 weeks pregnant and went to the ER because I thought something was wrong with the baby, and ended up needing to get an emergency appendectomy. That was real fun.

I was born in one, gave birth in one. This is pretty standard in my family (thank God).
