How much formula for a 4 week old?
DD is almost 4 weeks old and I have been mostly BFing her (a formula bottle 2-3 times when I just couldn't keep up with her demands). My mom will be watching her for a few hours this week and in case I can't pump enough (I've been having issues pumping), how much formula should I put in a bottle for her? I have the small 2 ounce bottles but I don't think that will satisfy her appetite anymore. How much formula do you give your 4 week old at each feeding?

I have a big baby (9lbs 7oz) so right now she is eating 5oz per feeding. It depends on how big your baby is but I was leaving a little extra in her bottle just in case she wanted more and i didn't have it on hand. At 2 weeks she was eating 3oz and had a growth spurt and went to 4 then 5 within a week or so
ETA: I am pumping, she only gets breast milk but I only give her a bottle so it may be different with formula

at 4 weeks, DS was eating 4 oz. every 3-4 hours 
now at 7.5 weeks, he is taking 5 5oz. bottle per day

I also had a big baby. AJ drinks 4 oz every 3-4 hours.

Ok so I tested this last night. She drank one of those 2 oz formula bottles then fell asleep. I'm wondering if that is too little? Granted she was born small and at 4 weeks is still less than 8 lbs....Hmmm. I don't know. Seriously-where is the baby manual??

eta: its not really a guide, its was just a question I had about a medical manuals recommendations on newborn feeding
2-2.5 oz per pound of body weight, per day.
take that number and divide by how many feedings you do a day
then add one ounce of Formula, in case they want more (growth spurt, or whatever) Nurse told me, with Formula, there should always be a little left in the bottle, so you know your not overfeeding
