Re: How necessary is a Glider?
We didn't like the look of gliders so bought Pottery Barn Dream Rocker with an ottoman and love it! Looks like a nice piece of furniture that can be used in any room.

Re: How necessary is a Glider?
We used ours for feeding both DC, and now it's one of the more popular chairs in the living room...

Re: How necessary is a Glider?
I don't use mine that much yet, but my baby does not sleep in the room yet. I have to say that I wish I splurged on a better glider. I bought a fairly inexpensive one and it does not recline. I have a feeling that if it did upgrade I would be using it to nurse a lot more. If I could do it again I would have spent the extra money and have a feeling it would have been well worth it

Re: How necessary is a Glider?
We didnt get one because we live in a small one bedroom and have no space for one. But if we did have the space I would definitely be getting one. They are so comfortable and everyone I know who has one raves about them. When we move to a 2 bedroom, hopefully over the next few months, I will be getting one for the baby's room.

Re: How necessary is a Glider?
I would have been miserable BFing for 5 months without my glider. Even bottle feeding was easier. So was rocking him to sleep when he was cranky.
I made the mistake of buying a regular wooden rocking chair first. It's comfortable to sit in but not with an infant, it's not big enough for a boppy, and I had nothing to put my feet on.

Re: How necessary is a Glider?
Wasn't going to get one, since I didn't think I'd need it. Then a generous friend bought us one when the baby was born. I used it every day, to feed him, soothe him and rock him to sleep. DS just turned 2 and we still use it every night when we read books before bed.
If you have the room, I would get one.

Re: How necessary is a Glider?
I have a tiny apartment so I didn't get one when setting up the nursery. Three days later I placed my order. IMO, it is sooooooooo necessary!
