DD was 5.5 mos, DS at 6 mos. Both hit the weight requirement at or around 20lbs. You can just see when they are ready for it though.

She was still tiny, but I was too lazy to carry her around in the infant seat anymore!

DS was 10.5 months in my car and 11 months in DH's car.
He could still fit in the infant seat, but we weren't using it as a carrier anymore, so we 86ed it.

She was about 6 1/2 months...I'm thinking she was about 18lbs & 27inches. She was obviously still rear facing.

5 months, not sure how big she was but the carrier was TOO heavy...I would guess she was about 18lbs or so

7-8 months. He completely outgrew it by then. I was stretching because it was in the dead of winter and I wanted him to stay warm. His head had reached the top of the infant seat by then. I think he was 18+Lbs. DS is on the bigger side.

Wow, I am bad - I can't remember I thought at 12 months when I could face her forward. But now that everyone else answered so young, am I mistaken....
ETA - I am pretty sure it wasn't until then that she reached the 20lb mark as well.

We had a keyfit 30 (which has a limit of 30" and 30 lbs)
DS was taken out of the infant seat at 4 mo becuase he was 29" tall already...... (he was only about 18 lbs)

DS was 6 months. he was 18 lbs. i think we would have done it sooner, we just didn't get around to installing the seat. i HATE carrying him in the infant car seat, it is so friggin heavy.

where did you see this? i have only seen that the limit is 30lbs, not 30 inches.
DS is over 28 inches and still has plenty of room in the infant car seat.

We have a KeyFit30 also and though Abby is only 15lbs 14oz, she is 27 inches long and her legs are darn long. We will be switching soon.

My son was 13 months! I have the peg though and i think you can use that a lot longer. the weight limit is much higher.

We have the Graco Safeseat -- which is pretty roomy -- DS is 6 months and I'm sure he'll be in it for a couple more months. My husband uses that seat. I have a Britax Boulevard for my car since he's too heavy for me to carry in the infant seat. I hope this helps!

8 months 21lbs and about 271/2 inches tall probably more thats her height from her 6 month check
