We are making the switch today. Jacob is 6 months old, 17lbs 12oz and 28.25inches. I can still carry him, but he is too close to the max 29 inches for the Graco SnugRide.

8 months. I tried to wait as long as possible. I probably could have switched him at 6 months since I stopped carrying him around in the infant carrier then.

I guess he was about 19lbs and 28 inches.

At around 6 months we had to... while she was technically still within the weght limits of the infant seat... with her coat on the buckles were too tight so we switched to the convertable and adjusted the straps to accomodate her coat.

ETA: I requested 2 britax marathons - one from my parent's and one from DH's for Christmas (since everyone asked what the baby wanted for the holidays anyway). They both got them so we have one for each car and obviously it saved us a ton of cash. Totally honest, I hate them - but I'm not sure there are really any better options if you want a seat that will last for a while. I like that the max weight is something like 65 pounds.

I think we switched in October or November, so around 10 or 11 months. DS is tall, but thin. We switched him mainly because he was really lopping out of the infant seat. We kept his convertible seat rear facing though until about a month ago.

7 months i think it was. He was tiny. I think 15 pounds at that point. But he HATED the infant seat and we couldn't listen to him scream anymore. Chat Icon

I just switched last week.

My daughter is 9 months. about 22 pounds and 28 inches.

She still could use her Peg Perego Viaggio which goes to 30 pounds 30 inches but we didnt use it as a carrier long ago and it was not convinient anymore.

We not use a Britax Boulevard RF. We will keep her RF as long as possible :)

Thanks everyone for all the opinions. DS is about 15 lbs and 7 months old. We thought we might do the switch when the weather is warm enough to not wear a jacket at all. Although I know he will still fit in it for a while after that, however it gets heavy to carry him around.

Well DD was a big baby (9lbs 4 ozs) but she got a LOT of use out of her infant seat - she was in it until 11 months. I don't remember how big she was when we switched her but her stats at 12 months were 20 lbs 5 ozs and 29 inches.
