How would you feel if the person watching your child...
you werent able to get in touch with? Ive said time and time again to call me if they went out. I was frantic 10 min ago bc I didnt know where dd was.

I probably wouldn't freak out, if I trusted this person enough in the first place to watch my child. While it can be frustrating, I would make sure they had a cell phone or remind them to let you know what their schedule would be.

DH does this all the time. He doesn't answer the phone if I call...and he won't answer his cell phone. Sometimes he tells me he didn't hear it ring

If you trust them to watch your child you should trust that they will be okay even if they go out, if you can't then you need a new sitter, IMO.

I agree with this as well.
I mean, sometimes you don't hear your cell phone or it is in vibrate in your bag or you don't have service. If it was for hours on end, then I would get nervous, but for an hour even, probably not.
Remember up until recently no one had cell phones and if the babysitter left the house with DC then you couldn't get them at all till they came home.

I just went through this with my mom-
She had an apt. took DS with her- 2 hr later- they are NO WHERE to be found,(even the office receptionist told me they left) AND her cell phone was off...
I was furious!!!
You dont have to "ask" me- but the very leat you could do would be inform me of what you are doing...
I disagree with everyone- If you trust the person to watch your child- it dosnet mean that something (car accidents, emergencies etc..) wont happen...
IMO- if you are taking my child anywhere- I should know where, and you should have a cell on you- so I can contact you..

Well, there are certain people that watch Ava, like my parents and my sister, who it wouldn't even cross my mind to worry about if they went out. Anyone other than them, I don't allow to take her out, but then again, I only have my babysitter for three hours a day, and other than that, friends only watch her if she's sleeping. But like I said, family, that's different. They can take her wherever they want to and I wouldn't worry.
