how would you handle this situation with the salon -- WR (Sorry)
While I was on the phone with the salon scheduling a hair trial for myself, I asked to double-check the prices for the bridesmaids' hair and makeup. (My wedding is 3 weeks from Saturday!) They want to now charge $70 each for makeup when we were quoted $55 when we made the appointments. I told her we were canceling all the appointments if they didn't honor the price. She has to "talk to the new makeup artist" to see if she'll honor the price. (New makeup artist my butt - she did my makeup for my shower and she was the makeup artist they had when we made the appointments!!)
So now I have to wait for them to call me back to tell me if they will honor the price we were quoted. Not to mention the price on their web site says $50, not $55.
We were told $55 when we made the appointments a couple months ago, and we're fine with that price. But what will I do if they are now going to tell me it's $70? The girls can't pay that much. I either have to see if Red Door can take us for makeup or pay the difference in price myself. I have 7 BMs...
Please that they honor their original price. I should hear back sometime soon. The makeup artist was supposed to be getting in at 1.

that's crap! I would threaten to take all of my business and go elsewhere. Tell them you will never recommend them and you are on several chat/wedding sites.
Bad, business practices. Did you tell them you are an attorney?

ITA! Total BS, she shouldn't have to "check" w/ anyone, she should just honor the original quote.

Re: how would you handle this situation with the salon -- WR (Sorry)
My mom and I have been going to this salon for years.
I only have 3 weeks until the wedding. How will I have enough time to find a place for 10 people to get hair and makeup done in that time?
I think if they call back and say no, I'll say, "Well I'm an attorney, and if I ever ran my business like this, I wouldn't have any clients." and then ask to speak to the makeup artist separately. The woman wasn't being snotty (she usually is), so I have a feeling they will honor the price.
We'll see. I'm going to be SOOOOOO ****** if I can't find another place and then have to pay extra to these azzhats for this. I don't want my girls to eat that cost.

are you kidding? If they don't honor it, I would tell them that you will pay the difference and then never return to that salon. Tell your hair person what's going on...maybe she can intervene on your behalf.
Definitely play the attorney card here..it can't hurt.
Sometimes the squeaky wheel..
if worse came to worse, all the ladies on here would help you find a new place..
really, it will be ok.

Print that price out and bring it to the shop.

I am... and I'm also doing some legal research on false advertising. That will scare the poop out of them!

What they are doing is illegal - threaten to report them to the NY Attorney General and Better Business Bureau, and/or file suit in municipal court for any resulting damages. That should get you the response you want...

I'm still doing some research b/c I'm not convinced it's illegal yet. But we'll see... If you can point me to the white papers on this, though, I'd love to see it. Thanks!
I already printed out their web site listing the prices and also the page listing their contact info. It prints out with the date on the bottom.

if they won't honor the price and you still insist on going to that place, let the "extra" $15 be the tip and don't tip anything else

Now THAT's a good idea. I won't tip the makeup artist if it ends up being $70.
The salon didn't call me back. I'm calling them tomorrow and we may have words. My mom might be going in for a blowout. If so,s he's going to speak directly the makeup artist -- who Inow found out was the one who quoted the price in front of the receptionist - so this is all BS.
