Hypothetic WWYD - car accident [Poll]
You are involved in a relatively minor car accident. A fender-bender. Both cars are driveable. You're not on a highway. You and the other driver don't appear to be hurt. You both decide the police need to be called.
Where are your cars?

Pulled to the side of the road...AFTER I've taken pics of every detail like the intersection, the damage etc.
I've gotten screwed 3 times in minor fender benders - I don't take my chances or ANYONES word.

off the road, side of the road as far as i can... NOT exactly where they were when the accident occured.
this is not CSI - the police are not going to draw chalk lines around the cars as if they were bodies in a crime scene.

Ditto. Take pics to prove what happened, but then pull to the side to prevent another accident from happening.

I would go to Hooters.....
Minor fender-bender? Both cars driveable? I would pull into the nearest parking lot... I would get off the road completely.

Texas law says you HAVE to pull to the side unless your car is so badly damaged that it can't be moved.

As a cop, this is one of my DH's BIGGEST pet peeves.
He will arrive to a scene of a minor accident and the drivers will have the cars blocking the road and they are out walking around, talking on the cell phone etc.
He says he immediately asks if the cars are driveable and when they say yes he tells them to pull the cars over to the side of the road ASAP.
He says a lot of drivers are dumbfounded by this.. and say things like, "well we left them here so you can see how the accident occurred"
He tells them that he does not need to see the cars exactly as they landed- he can tell how the accident occured by witness statements and the damage to the vehicles.
Funny you should ask this because he brings this up all the time.
If nobody is hurt and the cars are driveable get them to the side of the road- out of harms way- IMMEDIATELY!

Good to hear.  I can't tell you how many minor car accident scenes I had to work in the middle of Hempstead Turnpike because people wouldn't pull to the side. It's not just dangerous for you, it's dangerous to the people who are coming to help you and every other person on the road.
