I am seriously losing my patience today.

I just screamed at Ava, not even yelled, screamed at her. God, I'm in such a bad place right now and I can't take it. She's under foot so much today that I've actually been tripping over her. I'm trying to clean because I'm hosting Easter tomorrow for like 20 people, and our house is a freaking mess, my husband has to sleep all day because he worked overnight and has to do it all again tonight, and Ava is just not listening today at all. I can't take it. I'm ready to run away. I have no one to help me today, and even though I had my sister watch her yesterday, I only got half of what I needed done. I cannot take this b-llsh-t anymore of my husband working overnights and being all by myself to do every, single thing that needs to be done. I tried to put a movie on for Ava and she freaked out because she didn't want to stay in the livingroom while I cleaned the kitchen, I tried to let her help me, but she ends up making more of a mess than I already cleaned up. She's hanging on my leg and I just can't do this today. I can't I'm a big mommy failure today.

Lots of to you. I sometimes have days like that now...and I'm still able to plop DD in her swing for a few minutes before she wants to come out.

Can you set up an area in the kitchen for her to sit and color or play w/toys,like lay down a small blanket? or maybe in the liingroom make a tent for her,my kids used to love that I hope your day gets better and you can finish what you need to

ETA: You are not a bad mommy at all , I also have those days ( my neighbors are propably sick of my loud mouth lol) it is so hard when you have so much to do and so little time and you are in need of every minute of it ,and that seems to be the time they turn clingy or cranky

Thanks. I just stopped everything I was doing right and apologized to Ava. I feel terrible that I screamed at her She's watching a movie now, and I think that I'm just going to lightly try to get everything done, and if it's not, well, it's just my family coming over tomorrow, and they'll just have to deal if I didn't vacuum enough.

And I know what you mean, Chris is off the past coupld of days and I could actually VACUUM b/c he wasn't asleep

You are NOT a mommy failure. I am there all the time. Especially when Anthony worked overnights. Its so normal. I used to literally sit down and cry...actually sometimes that worked because she would feel bad and behave better after that.

I used to give her things that I normally wouldnt. Not dangerous stuff but thats when I started filling up all my pots and pans with beans for her to mix and count. It kept my child, who I usually never keeps herself busy, busy for like at least 40 minutes while I cooked every night.

Its HARD to do it alone at this age. They are so in between. Not like when they were infants and you could just put them down somewhere. I screamed a lot when Ant was on overnights..sometimes justified, sometimes not. When it wasnt, I would just explain to her and apologize..she got it. Look at the day too..this weather doesnt help anyones moods!! You are a wonderful mommy and know that!!! Love you!!

Now you know why my house looks the way it does. Being that DH works over nights we get nothing done. It's impossible until the summer. I feel for you. Do you want to bring Ava here?

Take a deep breath and relax. Save some chores for your husband to do once he wakes up and just tidy up and make sure the bathrooms are clean. No one is going to look so closely at the house at all.

Im sorry.. is there any way you can just stop for 1/2 hour and play with her.. maybe just that attention will ease her and then leave you alone the rest of the time to do what you need to do?..

Hang in there!! Your just having a bad day, you are not a bad mommy. Do what you can do and leave the rest. Like you said, it is just family coming over.

No but really I have those days where Gilly wants to be under my toes. Can you put on a disney video for at least and hr so you can get things done?

oh Rachel I'm sorry and I've been there!!! My DH doesn't work nights, but isn't around during the day and the kids are usually just about ready to go to bed when he gets home, so I know how hard it is to get stuff done when you have to do everything with kids around (esp a toddler.)

Is there a friend or relative that can come over and play or take her for a few hours??? If not, don't stress about cleaning the house. Nobody is really going to care. I never went to someone's house and thought anything of it if there were toys or some dust.

If you're really conscious about it, try to do most of it when she goes to bed. I know you're tired at night and its the last thing you want to do, but if its important to you it's an idea

Give her a big hug, she'll be ok we all have our moments

Thanks, girls. Of course, I just ran out with her tried to run an errand and that did not work at all. I don't know what I was thinking But, I have decided to park my behind on the couch for the rest of the day. As I'm typing this, she's snuggled up next to me watching another movie It's just that kind of day, I guess. And, Jodi, you're right...I'll just do it when she goes to bed. I appreciate your responses, girls. It really helps to have a place to vent
