So my QOTD: Do you wish you had more or less siblings or was the amount you had just right? I'm an only child and I often wonder what a good family size is from a kids perspective. I didn't mind too much as a kid being any only but I can say I really hate it as an adult. I have two kiddos and wonder....is that good?

Re: I asked this on Facebook. Figured I'd ask here.

There were three kids in my family... I'm the oldest, then brother is 2 years younger than I am, and sister 3 years younger than that.

I think that was a good number, although most days I could do without my brother Chat Icon

I'm the oldest and have 1 sister and 1 brother. I loved it too. I think 3 is good for me. I wanted 4 so no one is left out, but thats a lot of kids Chat Icon I just plan on having them close together, maybe that will help too.

im the youngest of 5... 4 girls 1 boy... the oldest is 11 years older, then 9 years, then 8 years than 3.5 years...

its always rough growing up especially with that many girls... but my older sister is one of my bffs... once i hit 16 we had so much more in common... i love having that many siblings...

my mom is 1 of 13... i have 40ish first cousins... so big is better to me! lol

Re: I asked this on Facebook. Figured I'd ask here.

I think for the most part it was just right.
I'm the oldest of 3. I have 2 brothers, one is 2 yrs younger, the other is 9yrs younger.

While it was just the 2 of us, it was great! Then the 3rd came along manyyy yrs later and things got crazy. But now that we're all in our 20s, we're very close.

I decided that i'm done with kids after #2. I don't want to feel outnumbered lol

Re: I asked this on Facebook. Figured I'd ask here.

I have a brother who is 3 1/2 years younger than me. Growing up I always wished I had a sister and now that we're adults and not as close as I had hoped we'd be, I still wish I had another sibling that I may have had more in common with. I also have no extended family in the US so I think that's a factor also. Holidays were always just my mom, brother, and I.

I'm the oldest and my brother is 18 months younger, then came my sister 3 years later. It was great growing up. We always had someone to play with. My brother and I had a lot of the same friends.Chat Icon

ETA: I am much closer with my sister now. So I think having only two is okay Chat Icon

Re: I asked this on Facebook. Figured I'd ask here.

We are 7.
12 years apart from oldest to youngest.

Growing up with had our cliques with each other.

Now, forget it. SUPER close.
We all have a huge love and appreciation for each other. Leo vacations with my brother and sister.
5 of my siblings made it to my house last year for Christmas. We had a blast.

Leo tries to convince me often that it was unfair for my parents to have that many.
I really did not see it this way. I loved all the babies.
I think I have more of an issue that we were broke then being from a big family.

Re: I asked this on Facebook. Figured I'd ask here.

I am 1 of 7 (6 girls and 1 boy) and LOVED being from a large family - I still love it! If we could afford it and if I had more patience Chat Icon I would totally have a large family Chat Icon

ETA: I think one of the things I value most from my childhood was learning to share and learning the value of things. Being from such a large family money was always tight; my Mom was a SAHM until the youngest went to school and my Dad was an engineer for the State. We had what we needed but not a lot of extras, vacations didn't happen every year and when they did we went to the Adirondacks or Cape Cod. I never felt deprived. As an adult I become very frustrated with greed and entitlement and hope to be able to teach my children what my parents taught us. This is actually one of my big fears with raising my children, that they won't have to share as much as we did and won't have to work for things the way we did. I know a lot of what we learned was through necessity but I truly think I am a happier person because of it.

I am one of 7 (6 surviving). Love every minute of it now. Growing up, sure there were some challenges and I often wonder how things would have been different if there wasn't so many of us, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I wish I could have many more than 2, but my age and a health issue weren't on my side.

We had 6.
None of us were close. Well maybe the twins were when they were younger.
Now I'm only close to my 1 brother now. Funny...since we fought the most growing up.

My DD is an only child...sometimes I wish she wasn't.

Wow it makes me feel SO good that almost everyone was happy being 3 (or more). No one seems to have any resentment for having to share parents, toys, space, etc.
Makes me feel that much better about the idea of 3.
I also like that everyone seems to be close to their siblings still. I know it's not a guarantee but I hope my children would be close as both children and adults.

I have 1 sibling but wish I had 2 because I like a bigger family. DH & I will only have 2 DC, even though I'd like 3.

Re: I asked this on Facebook. Figured I'd ask here.

More, actually. I am one of three girls and for some reason my middle sis always felt left out - which I can kind of see, she is SO different from me and my youngest sis (if we weren't 5 years apart we'd be twins). So I wish we had one more sibling so that things were more "even" so to speak.

That's great that with such a big age gap you are super close. I was worried if we have a 3rd and DD is 6 years older it would be a huge deal. I'm glad to hear that age doesn't seem to be a huge factor.
