I can't believe I'm writing this post..but I need some insight.
My DH was offered a job in NC-Charlotte to be exact-something we have talked about in the past. I can't even believe he was offered it. And the pay-GOOD!!
His company isnt doing so well, so he will prob lose his job in the next few months....
We are seriously considering this....to the people who have made the move-please tell me about your experiences...
To add, i have 3 friends in NC, our families are both here-in NY, we dont own, we rent, and i am still freakin jobless.

Considering you've spoken about this in the past, you're currently jobless, and if your DH stays at his job he may be losing it soon.... sounds like all signs point to Charlotte!

Sounds to me like it is a great opportunity.
I tried the move out of state and it didn't work for us so we came back. However my sister moved to NC almost 15 years ago.
Yes sometimes she misses home and family but she loves her life down there.

It sounds like things are looking the direction of Charlotte--I'd say go and take a chance and see what happens.
Being away from family will be tough--no doubt about that. But Charlotte is just a 45 min. plane ride away.

In that situation, I would go. Family and friends are there, and you never know about the possibilities for you finding the job of your dreams yourself. Good luck!

OH God that is so great I wish DH could find something there, I would move in a heart bit at this point I would Def go and as someone already mentioned, you can always come back if you really hate it .

We moved from brooklyn to pa...not far, but huge for us..mainly b/c of affordable housing.
No one is out here except for a girlfriend of mine so we were really on an island of our own. But it was the best thing we did.
It might seem scary at first, and it will be, but you get through it. And since you already have family there..i would go in a second!
the benefits seem to outweigh the cons.

I'm not familiar with Charlotte or moving away from family but just a suggestion job wise.
If he accepts the job in Charlotte, it may pay to ask his company if they would offer him a severance package to leave.
I know we've had decent severance packages for employees prepared & ready to be terminated (without their knowledge) & the day before they resigned leaving thousands on the table.
