If the pay for him is as good or better than here and you aren't working here anyway...then go.
It can only mean good things for you. You do have friends there so you won't feel completely alone.
My GF went down 4 years ago...and she hasn't regretted a moment. She feels their quality of life is so much better there than it was here.

I dont know - I know that I could never do it but you have to do what is best for YOU. How does it make you feel? can you visualize yourself there?

Wow...I know you've been struggling looking for a job, and I know G is having a hard time at his right now, not knowing what's happening...so maybe it would be a good move.
But you're pretty close to your family, right? Do you think its something you can handle?
I've had several friends move down south...FL, NC and SC in particular, and they love it.

I am in your situation- and we opted to move out of state. My DH was offered a great job as a result of his company being bought- our move will be to Richmond, VA.
We are also leaving our parents, and his sister. But they currently live an hour away from us now ( we are in CT) so we don't see them all of the time. We are planning to move next month. I am sad to leave, but..my parents are already talking about moving down there too!! Also, my BIL and his family live in VA, about an hour away from where we'll be.
This new job is 30% more money than he makes now, and I had a job but hated it. I can also stay at home with my 14 month old now
A big factor is our decision was the current state of the economy and the job market. He would be unemployed if we didn't take this. Now, we have a chance to move to a nicer home, I can stay home with my son, and he takes a step forward in his career. Too good an opportunity to pass up- and the best move, we feel, for our family.

Your lucky in the sense that you dont have anything tying you down now such as a job or kids. This is the perfect time to go.

Honestly, you will never be homeless or living on the streets. If you need to come back for whatever reason you can crash at your parents until you find an apartment - not the end of the world. It is not like you would come back and be living in a subway station LOL

Charlotte is a beautiful area. My sisters family moved there 12 years ago and my parents moved there 6 years ago and both love it!
The housing is affordable, and there are so many transplanted Northerners living there.
Good luck with your decision.

My husband and I own a vacation home on the outskirts of Charlotte (in Ft. Mill, SC). We bought there because we really like Charlotte. The Ballantyne area of Charlotte is not to be believed. GORGEOUS! Good schools, great people, and AWESOME WEATHER. In a word: GO!

I totally agree. DH & I have been trying to move there for the past 2 years, but DH hasn't been able to get a job transfer. We have so many friends there and go 3 times a year. You will really love it. If you need an apt. recommendation, try Promende Park in the Ballantye area. Dh's friend lived there and its gorgeous and the area is great. They are also running amazing rent specials now. Best of luck to both of you. Wish I was you guys.
