I feel horrible... so upset for DD and so angry!!!! (LONG)

We woke up to our alarm this morning at 6:30am and realized DD slept through the night (which she usually does so it wasn't surprising). But when I went to look at the monitor (we have the summer video) I turned the picture on and she was on her back sleeping... so I thought.

I noticed the monitor was completely silent, no shhhh sound that it usually makes when it's on. So I turned it off and on again and DD was on her belly and I hear her sniffling in her sleep... breathing in really hard and letting it out like she'd been crying!!

The monitor had frozen and the sound stopped working too! What the heck!!! I ran in there and poor thing had cried herself back to sleep I guess. Her sheet was wet from her tears. I scooped her up and just held her for a while and she was still sniffling in her sleep. Who knows how long she was crying! And I have a baby that hardly cries. Our room is on the complete opposite side of the house from hers so we can't hear her if she cries if the monitor isn't on.

We just started keeping DD all night in her crib and now this happens... i'm on the verge of crying every time I think about it. I feel like I should have known she was crying, even though I couldn't hear her... like mommy instinct or something.

She woke up 1/2 hour later after I put her in bed with DH since I had to take a shower and she was all smiles like usual so I felt a little better, but I didn't want to leave her today.

Should I email the company to see why this happened and how I can ensure it won't happen again? It was an expensive monitor!

I would complain to the company, but some crying won't hurt her!

I would definitely complain to the company. That isn't acceptable!

On the other hand, she isn't going to remember or be affected by crying to herself for a while.

Aw, it would have broken my heart too But you didn't do it intentionally, I'd be pizzed about the monitor too!!! I'm sure she doesn't even remember it now

Aww Jess, it' not your fault There is noway you could have known she was crying. I would d call the company and complain

That picture is beautiful. Don't feel bad-she will never remember This happened to us with Declan-I check on both my boys before bed. So one night we had watched a movie at the miracle ear decibel my DH likes it When I went in his room he was shuddering and sniffling in his sleep. You could tel he had been hysterical and we didn't hear him and he had cried himself back to sleep. Well because he has food allergies we were worried he may have been having a reaction and ended up waking him up...

I would feel the same way you do and I would definitely call the company.

does she ever sleep on her belly? Luce HATES being on his belly and if that happened to him I would not know what to do with myself I would feel so badly.

I am sure she won't remember, but to me that is not the point...you don't want stuff like that to happen.

there will be far too many other reasons in this world for our children to cry...the idea that I mistakenly gave him one more is ridiculously horrifying to me (but I am slightly insane about that sort of thing).

she looks beautiful, happy, and totally content with her daddy. she is ok.

I would still rip the company a new one.

Could the wet spot just been a runny nose? Ann only sleeps on her belly and since she seems to always have a cold or runny nose from being in daycare, I often find her in a runny nose wet spot

aww...that pic is adorable. Sorry this happened. but don't feel bad. the baby is ok now. I would contact the company too if you are still in warranty maybe they'll replace it.

I am so angry with the monitor company for you!!!!!!! I would call, but honestly, I don't know what it will do. It may just make you feel better to yell at someone, but the important thing is your DD is fine.
DD still sleeps in our room with us, and I am going to be relying on the same monitor in a month or two when we switch her....

I would feel the same as you do. I'd be so upset that my little one was crying and needed me, and I wasn't there for him. I'd be angry at the monitor malfunctioning.

BUT - that picture (almost) erases all those horrible feelings.

She's precious, and not any worse off. I bet you'll be giving her extra hugs and kisses when you get home tonight too!

I think that's happened to me too once or twice - where it freezes. I keep an audio monitor next to the video screen too. I keep the video monitor on mute and just use the regular monitor to hear DS.

How scary though, awww
