People are not out to get him no matter what he does. People have real concerns about concrete things he's literally already done.

Can we get back to the Environment in the hands of a climate change denier?

Without the environment, there is literally no planet to live on.

And way before that happens, --in fact, in our lifetime, we are looking at seeing lots of NY, FL and other places sunk under water from climate change. Uninhabitable.

And as we ruin the environment and kill the future for our children, things like moving to another country seem to be futile. The whole earth is dying.

Shouldn't that concern EVERYONE?

It concerns me. He's not going to anything for the environment.

But others don't care, because economy. Chat Icon

Because white America.

Can someone explain to me what he's "literally already done?" He's not the president yet so he hasn't "done" anything. He's said things, but as far as doing, I just don't know anything that's already "done."

Also, I am not a Trump supporter, I am not a Hillary Supporter either, but I can understand why people are no longer posting anything even remotely supportive of Trump. It's because no matter what you say you get immediately attacked. So I can understand why no one has bothered.

I find some of the reactions on this site a little crazy though. It's clear that a lot of the things presented as facts are just things that people heard and never bothered to research. If one more person posts that he called ALL mexicans rapists I might lose my mind!

Did anyone happen to catch what he said about marriage equality and pre-existing conditions on the 60 minute interview?

He has literally named a known white nationalist to his team. If that doesn't speak to the type of president he is going to be, I don't know what will.

He's literally already appointed individuals to head up various aspects of his transition. Many of us have grave concerns about some of these people based upon things that these people have said and done in the past--their records. No one wants to debate. People merely want to know what those who voted for him think of those selections.

I am more than open to revising my opinion of him based on what he does going forward. the fact that no one who supported him will comment on his selections makes me think that some of those who voted for him will refuse to evaluate his choices and/or revise their opinions going forward. I don't get that.

But that's what I meant when I referenced what he's literally already done. I have posted links to articles about Bannon and Ebell to support my concerns.

As far as what he has done, appointing positions in his cabinet is one. As far as i know he and Republicans do not have an actual plan for repealing ACA aside from wanting to keep the pre existing conditions and age 26 terms.

As far as gay marriage he said its already gone through Supreme court so that implies its up to the states? Same with R v W but i dont know enough about law to fully understand. He said he will have a pro-life judge nominiated.

Here's the thing: he has to know that he can't just go "poof!" and make marriage equality and/or abortion legislation disappear. But Congress can pass laws that severely limit access. (Go check out what VP Pence did in Indiana). He can't repeal Obamacare entirely because, frankly, it'll take too long. The pre-existing condition clause has to stay; I think everyone can agree that removing it would tick people off across the board. It's easier and faster to revise the existing document and change the name on the top of the letterhead.

And to those who say, I choose for me, you choose for you--we won....

If we don't ALL start choosing to deal with climate change IMMEDIATELY, there will literally not be an inhabitable planet for us to coexist on. Sooner than we think.

And then we all lose.

Curious what trump supporters feel. Not being snarky. Genuinely curious. Crickets on my end of IRL supporters.

Yep. I'm starting to hear crickets, even on these boards. They're not responding to these threads with their usual.

All of a sudden they have lost the ability to defend him. How do they feel about him backing down from his promises already, appointing Bannon, not prosecuting HRC, etc.? Crickets now.

Really?
Crickets? Why bother?

No matter what anyone ever says about Trump, unless it's negative it will only be buried. NOTHING supportive, explanative, calm, questioning or reasonable about Trump will ever be acceptable. Only watching him burn will be celebrated. It has become extremely tiresome.

I've already said. No matter what he does, says, looks, leans, coughs or even breaths .. he will be wrong, terrifying or extreme. NOTHING he does will be accepted. Everything he does will be questioned, judged unacceptable and horrific. Why bother?

The crickets aren't quiet. They are horse. They are squished. They voted. What else can we do? Hell some of us (me) keep screaming 'I voted for Bernie, where were you?' but no one heard us then either. We're already tired. We lost our battle a long long time ago and the war is only just begun.

4 yrs.

It's a simple honest question. The trump voters on here voted in spite of his racist, etc. comments or said that he didn't make these comments. Now he's put his money where his mouth is and has named an anti-Semite to his staff. What do you (trump voters) think? How do you feel about that? Do you support it?

I'm just curious if trump voters who voted in spite of his statements are in shock or what?

I do not believe that Trump is racist or anti-semetic. I think that the media twisted a lot of things that he said to make it appear that he is. You yourself have numerous times stated that he called an entire race (I think you actually meant to say nationality because I wouldn't consider being Mexican a "race") rapists. He did not say that. I think that you believe he said that because so many others are telling you that he said it and you hear it over and over and you begin to think it's true.

The media is so anti-Trump and they are eating all of this stuff up. I have yet to hear Trump make one anti-semetic remark in my opinion (as the daughter of a jew and the wife of a jew). I think that he opens himself up to having anything and everything he says twisted in a negative light because he is not a polished, charismatic speaker and he speaks in the moment.

I am going to reserve judgment until I see what actually takes place when he is in office. You can worry all you want but it's not really going to change anything. I just think it's a complete waste of energy.

Hrm. I think you're getting closer to the right question with the right tone.

Me. I voted for him. But as a wasted vote. I knew my town would vote for Hilary. I personally did not want to vote for her. But I didn't want to 'not vote' if that makes sense. I always believe in voting local, voting matters and making a difference. I also know my town would vote blue on the presidential side. But we had some important local judges and other issues I wanted to vote on. So yes, I voted.

I was quite honestly shocked that he won. not going to lie. I went to sleep early at 9pm because I totally bought into the rhetoric that the Media spewed that Hilary would absolutely win and it made me sick. But I would have supported her and sucked it up for 8yrs. I just assumed that she'd win because she was evil, spiteful, scary and connected. She had bullied her way into power. Who could possibly oppose her? She lied, cheated and stole her nomination and no one cared. So of course she'd win the presidency and get what she always wanted as if she was owed it.

Trump winning was a damn shock to me.

So everything he does on a go forward basis is a honestly sort of surprising to me.

The right question isn't do all trump voters support, justify what he is doing now, do we support his choices/actions, are we shocked by what he does?

No I think people are forgetting to ask why did we vote for him? Not because we wanted him to put scary people in power or to do crazy things. I'm very glad he's gone on record saying he'll leave the same sex marriage law alone but not happy about his opinion about roe v wade.

The man he just appointed his chief counsel runs a white supremacist website, and wouldn't allow his child to go to school with Jews. Those are just two examples of the overt anti-semitism by Bannon.

A number of well-respected and established Jewish organizations have expressed their concern about Trump's appointment of him. So even if Trump himself isn't antisemitic, which btw I don't necessarily believe, the man he has chosen as his right hand...decidedly IS.

See, there you go - do a little research. The school he was referring to is the Archer School and they actually continued to go there after he supposedly made those remarks. I believe that they both went to middle and high school there. So he didn't not allow his children to go there as you are stating. Also, take those remarks with a grain of salt - they are coming from his exwife during their divorce proceedings.

Exactly.....my Jewish friend posted on my FB page JUST NOW in response to something about Bannon "Hi, your very Jewish Childhood Friend here is VERY scared. She does not want to be Anne Frank."

I CANNOT understand the complete dismissiveness of how other groups of people in this country are ACTUALLY feeling. Im a white, upper middle class woman in NY, my life is probably going to remain untouched.

However, for my friends and family in the Black, LGBT, Muslim, Jewish, etc etc etc communities they are FEARFUL. I voted for THEM, NOT for me. I put my wants aside for their greater good bc I understand how they are feeling, how they are scared. If you think they were frightened before can you imagine what it is like to be in one of those communities and starting to watch it ACTUALLY play out.

How can one dismiss that???

I've done plenty of research, and just because he didn't get his way about the school doesn't mean he's not an anti-semite. I can link you to about a dozen other articles that share examples of his anti semitism and racism, but you'll just say the media is spinning things.

That's great that your Jewish family is fine with this. Mine isn't, and I still haven't heard anything that convinces me I should be, or that I shouldn't be afraid.

But you are saying that he wouldn't allow his girls to go there and that's just not the case. He did allow his daughters to go there and the comments are only the word of his ex-wife. I just think they need to be taken with a grain of salt. If you have done plenty of research I think that you should point to other, more prominent displays of anti-semetism. Something that would be more convincing than his exwife saying he said something inappropriate.

Sure. How about his comments about prominent Jews in the finance world, the word of a former Jewish Breitbart employee, and the fact that he is responsible for running a white supremacist website. My fear of him is not solely based on the testimony of his ex-wife, though I'm not disregarding that either. So I misspoke when I said he wouldn't allow them - instead, he didn't WANT them to go to school with Jews, but he didn't get his way.

Your focus on this one small thing when I have said more than once that there are multiple sources and examples of his antisemitism, and that I am afraid, speaks volumes.

Can you post a link to the comments about prominent Jews in finance? I would like to read them.

My problem with this is that when people emphasize these things that just aren't true it totally discredits the entire argument for me.

You know what? No. I'm done trying to justify my fear.

This isn't an argument for me. It's the safety of my children. Swastikas are being graffiti'd all around NYC and NYS, Jewish reporters are receiving threatening emails, and at least three of the largest Jewish civil rights organizations in this country have denounced Bannon and expressed their concern.

If that isn't enough, I'm done. I am afraid. If you need me to provide you with evidence to back that up - well, that really says it all.

Actually I was asking you to post these things not to justify your fear. You are reading what you want to hear. I want to see what he had to say because I didn't come across that in my own research and I am trying to educate myself as best I can on the subject matter. If he said something derogatory I would like to read it.

You are automatically on the defensive and on this site you really shouldn't be. The vast majority of people on this site are anti-trump.

You shouldn't have to do that.

It should be obvious who this man is through the numerous things that he has said and done. If it's not obvious, that shouldn't be your problem.

In a speech in Washington to the Republican Jewish Coalition: “I know why you’re not going to support me. You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money …Look, I’m a negotiator like you folks, we’re negotiators.” he told the Jewish audience. He also says, “Is there anyone in this room who doesn’t negotiate deals? Probably more than any room I’ve ever spoken.”

And now Newt Gingrigh, our possible future Secretary of State says Bannon can't be an anti-semite, because you know, he worked at Goldman Sachs and in Hollywood. Chat Icon

4 yrs.

He could find a cure for cancer and these die hard liberals will find a way to make it the end of the world bc he put drug companies out of business, hospitals and drs would lay off staff lol in their eyes nothing he does will be good enough for them.

So annoying and I can't help but roll my eyes at some of the nonsense I read from the same 3 or 4 people on here. They should really get a job at CNN or something and instill fear in the entire country instead of the handful of people on a parenting site.

Actually it's not just a parenting site, but a family site. And a family can just be a husband and wife, or wife and wife, or husband and husband, etc.

... and we went through the same exact thing 4 years ago, and 8 years ago. Both on LIF, and in the rest of the country....
