I need a good salad recipe.
I'm in charge of bringing salad to a 4th of July BBQ, and for some reason i'm stumped. I know salads can be super simple, but I was looking for ideas for something that'll wow people.

Re: I need a good salad recipe.
Baby spinach with toasted walnuts, craisins, and a citrus dressing (I do orange juice, lemon juice, sugar and olive oil). Normally if the salad wouldnt be sitting out all day i would add bacon and some crumbled cheese but with the heat I would omit them.

I need a good salad recipe.
I would do a basic pasta salad and then add on form there like this maybe
Basic Salad Orzo is my fav pasta to use but whatever you think looks nice Cucumber Broccoli Cauliflower Assorted Red/Yellow/Orange Peppers I like the mini ones you can buy at Kroger Italian seasoning packet from Wishbone and add the oil/vinegar/water as stated but I always add more vinager
Spice it up with these combos
Marinated Artichoke hearts, feta, pepperoni
Bacon, sharp cheddar, and Tomatoes
Black Beans, a Mexican cheese, and corn

Re: I need a good salad recipe.
My mom does one that is easy but different so it usually goes over pretty well:
Romaine lettuce Toasted slivered almonds Craisins Drained canned mandarin oranges
serve with red wine vinaigrette on the side

I need a good salad recipe.
I like to do an orzo salad.
Orzo Chopped cucumbers Chopped dill Chopped red onions Roasted shrimp Crumbled feta
I mix everything together with some lemon juice and olive oil and salt and pepper and it's always been a big hit. It tastes great cold and since it has no mayo in it, it works great during the Summer.

Re: I need a good salad recipe.
I like a basic garden salad filled with iceburg and romaine lettuces, maybe even some red or green cabbage, cucumbers, red and green bell peppers, maybe tomatoes or broccoli... with a house/italian dressing.

Re: I need a good salad recipe.
I've been making a couscous salad lately that I love. It's pretty simple. I ammended it from the original recipe here
I don't use the cilantro (I'm not a fan) so I use parsley instead. I left out the jalapeno b/c I didn't have it. I didn't go through the trouble with the garlic like they said in the recipe -- I minced it and heated it in the oil so it flavored the oil and then put it in.

Re: I need a good salad recipe.
Mixed greens Sliced granny smith apple Candied walnuts Goat cheese (crumbled) Dried cranberries Halved red seedless grapes Chicken (I'm using leftover roasted chicken, sliced)
With raspberry vinaigrette. YUM!
The KEY is to make your own candied walnuts! See my post here (with pictures)

Re: I need a good salad recipe.
I use spring mix, goat cheese or gorgonzola, sliced strawberries and/or pear, candied pecans or walnuts
Then dress it with a balsamic vinaigrette- usually I make it with a packet of good seasonings italian dressing mix
Its yummy and always a hit
