This.
I haven't cut out ALL carbs, but have taken out the big ones like mostly bread, pasta, rice and loaded up on veggies and some fruit and nuts, and then just eat high protein meats for my main meal.
I don't have a scale anymore (washed away in Sandy) but am about to get my period and I feel a lot less bloated and my pants fit better.
I also have been going to the gym 3-4x a week.
Nothing major there, but it's exercise I wasn't doing previously.

Re: i need a jump start
Honestly, I need to follow some kind of eating plan or diet framework to lose weight. I am generally a healthy eater... like fruits, veggies, whole grains. I don't eat a lot of junk food. But portions and overall calorie consumption can be a problem for me when I am not tracking my intake in some way. Even if it's healthy, whole, unprocessed foods that I am eating.
So for me, I've had the best success on WW, because I have the daily points target (and I like the support of meetings to keep me focused and on track). I've also had some success with just calorie counting, like on www.myfitnesspal.com.
I know a lot of people advise just cutting out processed foods, but personally, I feel without a target for intake, I won't lose weight. I may maintain my weight by making good choices, but weight loss won't really happen. But when I do follow WW I do try to adhere to the same ideas of eating nutrient dense whole foods, not a lot of processed, package, "empty calorie" items (even though you do have the freedom to indulge).
I find once I commit to it, and start losing weight, it's not so hard. But it's the committing part that is HARD. And I know WW isn't for everyone, but I would recommend finding a more structured eating plan that works for you and using it to jump start weight loss.
I don't worry much about exercise when trying to jump start weight. Again, I think it helps with maintenance and is part of a healthy lifestyle, but not essential for weight loss.
Good luck!

i need a jump start
i should have added i'm 9 weeks postpartum. before i got pregnant i was the thinnest and probably the healthiest i've ever been. before i got pregnant i had lost about 20 pounds by tracking what i ate on myfitnesspal and drastically cutting down sugar and simple carbs and upping protein. i've been trying to get back to that type of eating bc i know im successful at that, but i dont always have the time to dedicate to my meals like i did before DD. I'm trying but the scale isnt moving. i feel like i need to shock my body or something

Re: i need a jump start
If you are just looking for a kick start/shock to the body and are not nursing (I don't think it is enough calories otherwise), try a 5 day juice cleanse (I use cooler cleanse). It is a great way to get your body re- oriented and a way to get back on track. Obviously it isn't a weight loss or at least a sustainable weight loss tool, but I find it really helpful to help as a jump start.
