Joe Biden (Senator - Delaware and Head of Foreign Relations Committee) was just over there at the invitation of the Georgian President - I pray that this can be resolved diplomatically.
That is the scary part. Leaders, ambassadors and other representatives from all over the world keep going to Georgia and trying to negotiate with Russia. But the fact is that Russia doesn't care and they keep changing the deadline date when they will start pulling out. Seems like they are just playing games and really don't care about 21st century politics. Today(and Fri) was supposed to be THE DAY , but so far nothing, instead they actually went deeper into Georgian territory today ( close to where my grandparents live) and have opened up new posts.
"Russian militaries detained Erik Fournier, the ambassador of France to
Georgia, at one of the checkpoint stationed in Gori. The ambassador was on his
back way to Tbilisi from Sachkhere.
Mr. Furnier was arrested for an hour. Afterwards, the vehicle
of the ambassadors was halted and checked up by Russians at another checkpoint "
