This whole situation is just awful. I pray for the safety of your family and friends.
I had a friend in HS who was from Georgia. We're not in touch all that oftne, but I emailed him last night to see how his family was doing.

many prayers for your country & your family!! I read in this morning's paper that Finland sent some troops over too (where my mom is from).....my cousin's boyfriend is in the army, I wonder if he's there too......hope everything is ok and that they reach a resolution sooner than later!

I thought the US was supposed to step in to stop Russia from invading. I hope they come to a resolution soon and your family remains safe.

I am very sorry I haven't updated this thread, I haven't really been on here for a while.
So many of you FM me to find out how my family is doing.
My family is doing OK. They are living the life in fear and not knowing what is going to happen tomorrow. They are staying at my aunts for know in Eaastern Georgia . My mother and father both lost cousins in this horrible "conflict" and my mother also lost her aunt who died in her apt. when the bombs fell in Gori.
Russia and Georgia signed cease fire document over a week ago, but Ruissian's are not honoring the agreement and they are still in Georgia. They are destroying and stealing everything including American Humvees and weapons that was "loaned" to Georgian army when Americans trained them.
The pull out was supposed to finally start on Monday , instead Russians went deeper into Georgia and closer to capital city , now Russian president says the deadline is Thursday and Friday,but it doesn't look like they are moving or even getting to leave. So I guess we just have to wait and see. in the meantime Nato is getting increasingly angry and threatening Russia :

NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said Tuesday that Russian forces were still inside Georgia despite the agreement to withdraw -- and despite Moscow saying they had begun pulling out Monday.
"We do not see signals of this happening," Scheffer said. "There can be no business as usual with Russia under the present circumstances."

this is just ridiculous... i am so sorry your family is caught in the middle of this nonsense. hopefully something can be done to sotp russia before it gets any worse.

Joe Biden (Senator - Delaware and Head of Foreign Relations Committee) was just over there at the invitation of the Georgian President - I pray that this can be resolved diplomatically.
