Icing for cookies?
I'm making butter cookies for DS' bday. Anyone have an icing recipe for on top? The kind of icing that hardens?
Also - are butter cookies or sugar cookies better?
Thanks!

Re: Icing for cookies?
Sugar cookies or shortbread cookies are my favorites for decorating. And I use royal icing on top of them. I get the recipe from Wilton...in their meringue powder container. It hardens nicely, is easy to color, easy to make, and easy to work with.

I use the royal icing from Bake at 350.
4 TBSP meringue powder scant 1/2 c. water 1 lb. powdered sugar 1/2 - 1 tsp light corn syrup
You can find it here: Bake at 350

This is the recipe I've used for royal icing as well.
