Because of radiation, I would leave without a doubt.

If it meant driving off the island in the event of a tsunami or something. I would stay put right here in my home. I dont want to die washed up in my car on the LIE. I would much rather stay put with ds and dh in our home.

Anything else, i would move to bumfucck no where and set up camp.

Re: If what happen in japan happened hear what would you do?

I think it would depend on how close I was/how bad it was where I am.

If I was one of the survivors of the earthquake or tsunami and everything had been destroyed, I think I would leave. Go stay with family, move somewhere else. I can't picture myself sticking around to pick up the pieces and try to rebuild.

If radiation were a threat, I would definitely evacuate, at least temporarily. But that's the tougher situation for me to decide on. There seems to be disagreement on how bad the nuclear reactor situation actually is, and what the levels of radiation have to be before exposure affects your health. Obviously if you're told to evacuate, then there's definitely a danger and you should go. But what about people who live only a couple miles from the evacuation zone? Or in the next closest city? Or even a few hours away by car - is that far enough? And if you evacuate temporarily, is your home safe when you return to it? It's hard to know where exactly "safe" is when the threat is unseen, and possibly unfelt for years Chat Icon

Bend over and kiss your azz goodbye. Seriously, if anything of that magnitude happened on LI nobody would be able to get off. The traffic on the LIE during rush hour would look like a barren highway in comparison. We'd all be stuck here waiting for our lovely government to come get us.

I'd leave right away and only return when I was sure it was safe.
