We eloped last June(2005)and I still havent even attempted to go down and do it. Besides the lines Im having a really hard time giving up my last name but I dont want to do the hyphenated thing either. I'll get there.

Some DMV's are quick.
SS office took about 15 minutes.

Its not really a huge deal,

I got married September 2005 and by November 2005 I had most things changed. BUT I still have a few other things to change. I need to get moving - thanks for the reminder.

I got married in October and had everything done by late November. I found it too confusing to go by two names and couldn't deal - it was an annoying process, but pretty quick and easy other than the waiting on lines . . .

Got married July 1, 2006 and YESTERDAY, one month later I went to Social Security and on Friday I am going to the DMV.

I did it as soon as I got my Marriage License. I hated being in between names

I waited at the SS Office for about 40 minutes and DMV about the same. It was pretty painless.

Well with procrastinating an all.....1 1/2 years! I know it took me forever, but once I began the process everything was changed over pretty quickly and w/o problems. I went to the SS office by mineola (i live in Queens) b/c they gave less of a problem to make my maiden name into my middle name. The DMV by Roosevelt field questioned my name change more than the SS dept, but in the end she changed it.

I havent done it yet and DH and I got married in June. I am just too lazy to want to wait on those lines and deal with the hassle.

The funny thing is I started a new job after DH and I got married and my paychecks are made out to my new last name (even though I haven't officially changed my name and they have copies of my driver's license and SS card) and we opened a new bank account with my new last name and they never asked for any proof that was even my name. AND THAN WE WONDER WHY WE HAVE IDENTITY THEFT!!!!! Pretty stupid on their part ha????

I have to do it I just can't bring myself to sit at the DMV for 5 hrs. and the SS office for another 5.

Got married September 17th 2005. I changed SS the day after we got back from the HM. Also went to DMV to change my drivers license and title that day too but after waiting 2 hours and my number being called they told me their systems were down

Almost a year later and everything has been changed officially (life insurance, car insurance, 2 bank accounts, SS, Driver's License, car loan, title for car, passport and paycheck) except 2 credit cards. They want my marriage certificate with the seal so I have to go to Town Hall and buy 2 more @ $10 each. Which isn't a lot of $$ I'm just too lazy.

Although, DMV didn't take my old license so if I'm asked for ID on those 2 credit cards I'm ok since I carry both licenses. That's probably part of the reason I have zero motivation to change them.

I never realized how much I had to change until the time came!

SS took all of 10 minutes - it was so painless, all I needed was my marriage ceritificate. I haven't gone to DMV yet, for fear of waitng on those awful lines. I have to get there before I go back to school though

I got married in May and haven't done it yet... I am thinking I'd like to get it done within the next month or so. At first I was having trouble letting go of my last name, but I think I am ready now. I have been using his last name for some things, so might as well make it "official".

I pretty much did it right after Memorial Day, we got married in March, so about 2 months after being married. I waited b/c we had plane tickets with my maiden name on them for Memorial Day Weekend. I got SS and my license changed in the same week.

i am ashamed to say---14 years married and still haven't changed my ss info.
What is the point now anyhow.

I got married in 2002 and I just changed my Social... 4 years later! The name was right away.

I just did this last week and I got married Nov 2001. Yikes!!! I was fighting it because I hate my married name.

I did it the week we got back from our hm. SS wasn't too bad (about an hour wait), my cousin works at DMV so that was super easy and I have my passport app done, just have to mail it in
