at what point would you leave, within reason?

I guess it would depend on the job and hours, but figure a full-time job, long hours.

Right now, at 36 weeks. I wasn't too uncomfortable until now. I commute into the city from Huntington. Today I'm wondering how I'm going to make it until the end.

I would go out now at 31W2D. Carrying twins is starting to take a toll on me. Getting up is getting more difficult. Although I work from home 3 days so I would be open to working from home for all 5 days each week. Although I hate bedrest, it really is getting harder to even get up to go to the bathroom.

Out of curiosity (I commute in from Centerport).......do you think it would be easier on you to drive v the train? Wondering how I'll handle it come the spring....

It depends on how much you flew before getting pregnant. Fortunately I worked A LOT in 08-09 which is the time frame they used to base the disability on, so I'll actually be making about the same!

However, whenever we get around to #2, it'll be bad! Because I can't see ever working as much as I did then.
:) Oh well!

I've thought about, but I think it would often take me longer to get to work because of all the traffic--especially this time of year with the holidays. If it wasn't holiday time, I'd probably try it once or twice to see which is better.

Re: If you could leave work at any time in your pregnancy, without it hurting your maternity leave...

I am 36w and tonight is the first time I actually want to cry with the thought of going to work. I teach 7th and 8th grade sp ed. I love my job more than anything and work with some of my closest friends but to get up at 5:45 everyday and always be "ON" takes so much out of me. I sometimes wish I sat behind a desk in a cubicle

So to answer the question I would say 36-37 weeks is a great time to stop. Unfortunetly I will be working until I go into laborChat Icon

hmmm good question...I have a pretty physical job. I work as a physical therapist with special ed kids so I am on my feet all day and on and off the floor ALOT! It is starting to get tough. So maybe in 2 weeks or so..I would be 30 weeks....but since I need the money..I am hoping to make it a little further working part time

I work in an office, but commuting into NYC is really hard when you're pregnant.

I'm 29 weeks, so I wish I could go out at like 32 weeks...so I could relax and gear up for the baby's arrival!

Haha, my SIL (who is also pregnant) and I were just talking about this the other day. We feel that pregnant women's bodies are doing enough that we shouldn't have to work on top of it.

I'm a touch worried about how this winter is going to be personally. If it is anything like last year, I don't want to have to deal with the drive. I go from Miller Place to New Hyde Park, and some days it is just too much. I can't even imagine what it will be like with snow!

i am thinking of going out at 35 weeks...instead of 37...i do not want to commute to NYC in this weather and i am ridiculously uncomfy now...it will not effect my maternity leave. I get 7 months from the day the baby is born and can use sick time 6 weeks before...

i would have taken off the first trimester and then go out somewhere in the 35 week range. I work really long hrs (often 65-70 hrs a week) and during the first trimester it was torture!

now!! i'm 9w1d... almost 2d.

i'd be out like yesterday!!

Teaching and projecting my voice and focusing and answering a million of the same question is making me feel soooo sick!! I'm much better when I'm just home.
