If you have dental insurance, when did you add DC?
DS is almost 2 and I know our pediatrician will recommend taking him to the dentist soon. If you have a 2-3 year old, how often does DC go to the dentist? If DS only has to go once per year, is it worth adding him onto our dental insurance plan now? When did you add DC onto your dental plan?

once his teeth started to come in and thank god we did bc he fell at daycare and chipped his front tooth, so we had to take him when he was like 18mos.

Ours is the same price for family plan regardless of whether it is just spouse (we are all under my plan), so DS was added to my dental and vision at birth. He hasn't been yet, but it's a nice precaution.

I added DS when he was 2.
Took him for the first time to the dentist around 2 1/2.
He just turned 3 in September and he went to the dentist again in October. He will be going every 6 months.

Same here. It was such a minimal cost to go from DH + spouse to Family we put him on right almost right away.
Totally worth it to have him on by the first appt. You never know what you will run into. DS needed a cleaning and xrays at his first appt, I can't even imagine what that would have cost!

This is why I put her one as soon as I could. So she was 4mo old. From 4mo to 26m she was insured 'just in case' but her teeth came in so late.. then because it was closer to the end of the year I just kept her on. But honestly I can't afford to keep her on again so I dropped her for this year coming up.
So from 2-3yrs old she'll be uninsured. Then I'll pick her back up again end of next year.
Taking her to the dentist though this month to use that insurance and get an idea if we're good for the year.
ETA: i wish the price was close.. for me and hubby its $54, each check (twice a month) for AJ to be included its $98

This cycle. She will be 3 in June and we plan on taking her to the dentist for the first time then.

Re: If you have dental insurance, when did you add DC?
i added her at birth since i don't get to change my benefits again till next november. dd will be turning 1 in august and will definitely have some teeth by then and be running around. i figured just in case (god forbid) she falls and needs some type of surgery in her mouth i'd rather have the coverage than not for an extra $10/month.
