I would definitely choose burgandy or red over brown. Maybe the same color as your DR. This would allow for a nice color flow into the home.

We have burgundy. I hate it and want to paint it something brighter and more unique.

We have tan and burgundy. We also have burgundy shutters though. Here's a pic
If you don't like I would suggest a yellow door.

We did chocolate brown. I love it! It looks great with fall wreaths, and bright colors in the summer like sunflowers/gerber daisies.
Good Luck

We did a chocolate brown also. But ours is a chocolate brown that almost looks purple-ish grey in some light. I love it. It was by Sherwin Williams outdoor paint but I can't remember the name of it & I just searched and nothing sounded familiar. :( Sorry. Good luck!!!
Our neighbors have a tan house also and they did a teracotta color (orangey-red) and it looks beautiful and wasn't something I would've thought of doing!
eta: I just looked at your pic again and based on the pic of your house, maybe Navy?
