If you moved your newborn's bedtime earlier, did he or she sleep later?
Every book says that if the baby goes to bed earlier, they will sleep later the next morning. Was this your experience? TIA

Yes, to a point. My DD has never slept past about 8:15 and usually sleeps until 7-7:30. When she gets overtired or goes to bed too late because we have an event or something like that, she's up at 5 or 6 thankfully, she will usually go back to sleep but will still wake up on the early side.

My DD wakes the same time no matter what time she goes to bed. That said she is 19 months and not a newborn.
how old is your DC? my newborn does not have a "bedtime" as of yet. He is only 3 weeks old, at this age, there is no such thing as a bedtime, or schedule.

The boys usually go to bed between 7:30pm - 8pm. They usually get up around 3am for a bottle, and go back to bed until 6 or 7. I've found that if I put them to bed earlier, they need another bottle around 11:30.

My DD is 6 weeks old and I really can't say she has a "bedtime". Her last bottle of the night is usually around 8, usually asleep by 9, 9:30 and then sleeps til about 3 or 4.

No, for my DS it was the exact opposite. And, not only did he wake up earlier but, WAY earlier - not equal to the amount earlier he goes to sleep.
He is not the norm though with sleeping. To this day, he is one of the few kids I know that even if you put him to bed at midnight he will sleep his usual 11 hours. However,he is also the worst sleeper
ETA: The few times I have tried to move my DD's bedtime earlier it didn't work then for her either.

It never worked for either of my kids. If I put them to bed earlier, they would wake up earlier in the morning.

Re: If you moved your newborn's bedtime earlier, did he or she sleep later?
My DS is 3 and has always been an early riser. He can go to bed early or late and still get up at same time. The only benefit of going to bed early is that he is not a grump the next day. So my DS goes to bed around 7-7:30pm. On the other hand my DD is 16 mos and sleeps later if to bed earlier. Usually put to bed at 7 and she won't get up until 9. so i think it just depends on the child.

our DD always went to bed between 7 and 8 pm and would wake up aroun 7 am.
We found that if she went to bed later like 9..that she would be up at 4-5 am.
