Bedtime routine for newborn
My DS is 3 weeks today and I wouldn't necessarily say we have a routine yet. We have tummy time, book reading, baths during the day and then I give him a bottle anywhere from 7-9 and that's when he gets put down in his crib and will sleep there through the night (waking every 3-4.5 hrs to be fed).
My question is should I start doing bath and book at night NOW? I was planning on waiting until 2 mths or until he sleeps in longer stretches at night. He's a gassy/fussy baby so I do have to "rock" him a little to sleep.
Does it sound like my DS is already on some sort of a routine? He doesn't sleep in swing, chair, etc (at night) and does get put down in the crib around same time every night-it's just we don't do bath/book at night but do that in the a.m. because I'm afraid he will "wake up" and not be sleepy anymore.

Re: Bedtime routine for newborn
3 weeks is too early for a "routine" IMO. He's going to change his current schedule a few times before you can really see any kind of consistency.
We started a routine around 6.5/7 weeks old, mostly because it's just how it worked out in our house for us.
DD is just about 14 months old now, and we still pretty much follow this same routine.

We try and do a bath and bottle somewhere between 9 and 11 depending on how the bottle schedule is going...

Yup same here. DD's bottle times change during the day (depending on her naps) so at night her last bottle before we all go to sleep is usually between 10-1130ish. Then she wakes up about 4-4.5hrs later for a feeding. Then is usually up for the day around 6am.

Re: Bedtime routine for newborn
Maybe I will do book and bath with his early evening bottle to establish an actual "bedtime". Otherwise he is being put down in a crib I just need to make more of it.
Thx!
