If you used fabric from your wedding dress for a Christening gown....
1. Who did you use to do it?
2. How much did it cost?
3. How much fabric did they need? I have an extra long cathedral train on my gown and was hoping that after the fabric is taken, there is still enough to have a smaller train...
4. How long did it take?
TIA!

My friend did it. They used her whole dress (she did not have a cathedral train) and they made one boys and one girl outfit, a bonnet and a hat. I think it was around $350/400 and it took a few months. I have a person that does it, FM me and I will give you the details!

I had a suit made for DS. They were able to do it with just the train. It ran me $175 for the suit and a hat. I can't recommend a place, I had mine done in Florida!

Re: If you used fabric from your wedding dress for a Christening gown....
I used Designing Dreams. Cost was $350 - would've been $300 had it not been so lacy. Took less than a month but they ask for 6-8 weeks - I was 5 1/2 weeks away when I went in and I picked up the dress today. DD's christening is on the 8th so they turned it around quickly for me because they had to. DD's gown has a train - my gown's train was not that long so quite a bit of the bottom was used. The bodice is still in one piece and there's some extra fabric - but like I said, my train was rather short.
ETA: the christening can be made in whole or in part from your dress - if it's not enough fabric without going in too much, they can add new fabric - or if there are certain parts you want them to use in a certain way, they can do that. This is the benefit of custom making the dress - they'll do and use whatever your heart desires.

Re: If you used fabric from your wedding dress for a Christening gown....
I have a girl that did it in Coram for $200. (This was a few years ago, so not sure what the price is now.) SHe made the gown, hat and slip. She mainly used my train, but I did ask her to use some specific things from the bodice of my gown. I asked her for mainly a plain gown, since I was having a boy. If we ever have a girl she will be adding much more of the beadwork from my gown.
Please FM me if you are interested in her info.

Ditto. They did DSs gown last August. The cost was the same. I had a Maggie Sotero Dion. We used my entire dress from the waist down, and they saved the top for my display with my wedding stuff. We made a unisex gown with a 42" skirt/train (I wanted a very traditional look). They did it in about a month. They also made 2 bonnets, one male & one female, two handkerchiefs for my sons to carry on their wedding day, and we also ended up buying DSs suit there as well. I woulg HIGHLY recommend them. Very professional and very talented.
