If you used pull ups for night time when your child first potty trained...
...how did you decide it was time to let it go and do only underwear? Did you wait for a certain number of consecutive dry nights? Or something else? My son has been potty trained almost 2 weeks now. He is in underwear all day and at night, we put a pull up over his underwear. At first, he was still peeing at night. Now he has had a consecutive week of waking up dry every morning (as well as naps). Just trying to figure out when we should stop doing pull ups. My husband says we should wait till he wakes up dry every morning for a whole month. I think that's a little ridiculous!

A year later & my ds still hasn't had a single dry night, but I plan on trying to take it away after a full week of dry nights so I'm with you!

Re: If you used pull ups for night time when your child first potty trained...
The pediatrician told my daughter not to use pullups at night. There was something in them that would cause tprashes if left on (wet) all night, She put diapers on her at night until one day Kylie told her she did NOT want to wear a diaper at night. It was that night they started putting underwear on her at night. I think she's had one accident at night and it's been about 6 months. Also we make sure she has her last drink early enough before bedtime and make sure she uses the potty right before bed. She has gotten up a few times in the middle of the night to use the potty too. Good luck.

We stopped pull ups when DS was dry for 3 or 4 consecutive nights. A month seems like a long time to wait.

I heard a month from someone. My DD will go for like a week waking up dry, but then wake up wet a few nights, so I haven't taken it away yet (she has been potty trained since August).

I kept pull ups at night for YEARS after they were potty trained during the day. There is no rush, and nothing worse then changing sheets in the middle of the night!

Once DS went for a week with no accidents I took them off. I also realized if he had to go, he'd get up during the night and go.
Lastly, I bought those goodnight mats and put them under his sheets to protect the mattress.

my DD went about 2-3 weeks dry at night and then we wore the thicker underwear at night. her pediatrician said she was so young that depending on the child, they may need to wear night time pullups until almost 4. she's 3 1/2 now and recently has been having soem accidents at night but they are so tiny, i think as soon as she starts the accident she wakes up and calls me.

Re: If you used pull ups for night time when your child first potty trained...
DS is dry every single morning and every single nap. For 1 month, only 1 peepee accident (a few poop) but he feels secure in them so he wears them full time right now. We treat them like underwear (he calls them underwear) and he knows NOT to go in them.
It works for us.
In the next few weeks, when we run out, we are done. Cold turkey.
