Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
My DS who is currently 4 is the only one of my kids who night trained right away, he can drink at any point even right before bed drink and still not wet the bed. I wish they were all like that.
With my older son, we would not give him a drink after dinner. Unless it was something that made him unusually thirsty. Then he would go before bed which was around 8pm. When he was first night training, we'd wake him up to pee around 10:30-11:00. He would hardly be concious, sometimes my DH would carry him to the bathroom and stand him in front of the toilet. Only when we actually woke him and made him walk himself to and from the toilet did I see that he started to not even need that. We did that for about a week and then stopped waking him at all and he was officially night trained.

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
I honestly think when they are ready to stay dry at night they will. I never cut off drinks for them. In fact they still took sippys to bed when they were waking up dry. My oldest DD started waking up dry (sleeping with water) at 32 months my youngest did the same at 25 months. When their body is ready they will do it regardless of fluids. My girls(3 y/o & 4 y/o) are big on getting their last drink before bed and I can't imagine telling them no when they are thirsty.
I do know that most nights I hear my 4 year old get up to use the bathroom around 1-2 am. Does your child have access to the bathroom at night?

My DS is 4. I don't cut off liquids, he usually has some milk right before bed. He wakes up every now and then to pee in the middle of the night. Every now and then he has an accident, but I don't put him in pull ups.

Same here except she rarely wakes up at night. If she wakes up in the middle of the night she will always go, but I've taught her to always go to the bathroom after sleeping (ever since she wet herself shortly after arriving at a GTG this summer).

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
I have a 4 yo (in underwear) and a 2.5 yo (in pull-ups.)
1.when do u cut off fluids? -I don't, but usually by 7pm they're no longer drinking anything. If they tell me they're thirsty, I give them water. I also let them take their sippy cup to their room, but it's to remain on their dresser, not in bed with them.
2. what time do they go to bed? -7:30pm, sometimes 8pm.
3. do they wake in the night to go bathroom? -my 4 yo does on occasion, but it's not frequent. My 2.5 yo tends to go as soon as he wakes up.

My DD was 3 in August and has been PTed day and night since last December (she was early, I know)
1. No more drinks past 7pm 2. She goes to bed at 8pm 3. I wake her before I go to bed (usually around 11pm) and make her go.

Amanda - this is Jack. He has to go to bed with a small amount of milk. It's the way he unwinds. I don't know how I'll ever get him night trained. Right now he wakes up FULLY soaked in a pullup, and there are a few days where I have to change the sheets.
Should I start bringing him to the bathroom before we go to bed around 11p?

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
I don't cut off fluids. E always drinks her milk/pediasure just before brushing teeth/bed. She's 4.5 now but has been off nighttime pullups for over a year.
She goes to bed 8/830. For a long time I would bring her to the bathroom before I went to bed to avoid accidents and/or her waking me up to go. I don't do that anymore. She will wake up occasionally, but its pretty rare.

This is Gavin to a TEEEE..but he has to go to bed with water..its part of his routine..and he wakes up soaked in pull-ups. He's been fully potty trained since he was almost 2 and how he is almost 3 1/2..i'm not going to rush him. He goes to the bathroom right before bed and still is soaked..i think he just has a small bladder LOL

1.when do u cut off fluids? I generally... I don't really limit her fluids... but she's not a HUGE drinker at night. She even usually takes a few sips of milk or water before she goes to sleep.
2. what time do they go to bed? She goes to bed around 8-8:30
3. do they wake in the night to go bathroom? She never wakes up to go to the bathroom... but I make sure she goes PP before she gets into bed for the night.

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
1.when do u cut off fluids? I try for no liquids after dinner (which is about 745ish). He oftens asks for something to drink before bed and I will give him a small drink.
2. what time do they go to bed? 9pm
3. do they wake in the night to go bathroom? Rarely
My son is 3 and been trained since 2.5. I think he night trained on his own before I was ready to day train him and that was with him drinking a full cup of milk before bed. My older son night trained completely about 5 months or so after he day trained. And the questions to the above would have probably been the same answers for him at that age as well.

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
Sorry to go off track but adding this question, my son (2.5) initially was waking up dry when we first potty trained (in August). He was dry for a solid 2 wks and I was considering doing underpants (which we have always done for naps) and then that stopped. How odd Now he'll wake and pee immediately - but has a fairly full diaper by morning (not tons, but enough). I do let him have a 1/4 sippy of milk or water before bed if he asks.

To me it just sounds like his body isn't ready to stay dry at night. Some kids bladders just take longer. You could try to take him before you go to bed but he might still wet again after so it might be pointless. He will eventually reach a point where he either holds it or is woken up by it to go to the bathroom at night. I just personally don't believe its something we teach them. I think its out of our control. I know some people set alarms to take their kids to the bathroom throughout the night but I don't believe that really does anything to help, its just avoiding what would have happened. If you google search about child bladder control you can find alot of info that says some kids just take longer with this

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
I have a 3 year old who is fully trained. She never wore pull-ups.
1.when do u cut off fluids? I don't...she drinks when she needs to.
2. what time do they go to bed? 8pm she in bed. She usually goes to the bathroom right before she's all tucked in.
3. do they wake in the night to go bathroom? No. She has had a few accidents...but very rarely. She never wakes at night and sometimes goes to the bathroom as soon as she wakes up, other times she can wait a little while.

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
DS was 4 in September. I stopped Pull-ups at night a few weeks after day training him (a little before 3 1/2). He goes to bed by 6:30, last uses the potty about 1/2 hour before bed and has a sippy in bed with him (I know, flame away ). He will occasionally wake in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, but it usually is around 6:00 AM, when he gets up for the day anyway. Other than the very beginning, his pull-ups were always dry at night. Like other AP said, when they are ready, they are ready

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
DD is almost 3 and potty trained. A bit more than a week ago we stopped with the diaper overnight. We have not cut off water at all - she goes to sleep with a sippy full of water. She had an overnight accident immediately after I posted on here that she hadn't had any overnight accidents. (Murphy's Law hard at work! )

DD is 3.3, has been night trained for almost a year. in fact, she was waking dry in AM BEFORE we even toilet trained- uh, sign to mommy to get on with it. anyhow, we don't cut off liquids. she goesot sleep with a full sippy of water and drains it. almsot never wake to pee. but my kid has a bladder liek a camel, even during the day, can go hours without peeing.

Re: 3-4 year olds potty trained and NOT wearing pull ups at night..?
Thomas is 3 1/2. He's been potty trained since February, but still wears pull ups at night. He goes through spurts of being dry for long periods of time and then being wet for long periods of time and I don't do anything differently. Bed between 7:30 and 8:30, no liquid after 7. Sometimes he calls to go to the bathroom if he doesn't fall asleep right away but that doesn't affect whether he's dry or not in the a.m.
